  • Logan Woodside: Back with Tennessee

The Titans signed Woodside to their practice squad Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports. As expected, Woodside lost the backup QB competition to rookie Malik Willis, but he'll rejoin the team as an emergency option on the practice squad. The 2018 seventh-round pick has thrown only one pass across 11 regular season appearances.

  • Titans' Logan Woodside: Agrees to one-year deal

Woodside has signed a one-year contract to remain with the Titans. Prior to re-upping with the team, the QB had been scheduled to become an exclusive rights free agent next week. Now that he's back in the fold for 2022, Woodside is slated to reprise his role as starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill's top backup.

  • Titans' Logan Woodside: Returns from COVID list

Woodside was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. • Titans' Logan Woodside: Placed on COVID list

Tennessee placed Woodside on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. The Titans haven't revealed whether Woodside tested positive for the virus, or if he was merely a close contact of an infected person. As a result, Woodside's Week 12 status has yet to be determined, but if he's unavailable for Sunday's game against the Patriots, the Titans could promote Kevin Hogan from the practice squad to serve the backup quarterback behind Ryan Tannehill.

  • Titans' Logan Woodside: Draws Friday's start

Woodside is slated to start Friday's preseason opener against the Falcons, Jim Wyatt of the Titans official site reports. Top QB Ryan Tannehill won't play in the contest, so Woodside -- who remains the favorite to serve as the team's No. 2 option at the position -- will get the starting nod Friday and is expected to play at least until halftime. Once he's lifted, Matt Barkley will take over and finish the game under center for the Titans.

  • Titans' Logan Woodside: Favored to win backup job

Woodside has the "inside track" to the backup quarterback job in Tennessee, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports. Selected by Cincinnati in the seventh round of the 2018 draft, Woodside failed to make the Bengals' roster but quickly resurfaced on the Titans' practice squad. He then moved to the short-lived AAF, where he completed 58.3 percent of his passes for 7.0 YPA (with seven TDs and seven INTs) for the San Antonio franchise. Woodside re-signed with Tennessee last summer and played well in the preseason -- 7.1 YPA, four TDs, zero INTs -- earning a spot on the practice squad before an arm injury sent him to injured reserve. He's now healthy for 2020 training camp, poised to compete with rookie seventh-round pick Cole McDonald for the right to serve as Ryan Tannehill's backup. The Titans' decision not to sign a veteran QB might be interpreted as a sign of confidence in Woodside, who reportedly remained heavily involved with the team while he was on IR last season.

Woodside spent time on Tennessee's practice squad during the 2019 season, though he was placed on the unit's injured list early September due to an undisclosed issue. The 2018 seventh-round pick is a developmental project, and he'll remain with the Titans to start the offseason.

  • Logan Woodside: Latches onto practice squad

The Titans signed Woodside to their practice squad Sunday, Paul Kuharsky of 104.5 The Zone Nashville reports. Woodside spent training camp as the team's third quarterback and put together a fairly impressive resume across the team's four preseason contests. Despite connecting on just four of 13 pass attempts in the team's second exhibition, he completed 60.5 percent of his passes and averaged 7.1 yards per attempt overall. The Titans elected to keep only Marcus Mariota and Ryan Tannehill on their active roster, so if either one suffers an injury, Woodside could find himself locked into the backup role.
