Christian Sam: Reaches settlement

The Cowboys waived Sam (undisclosed) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Thursday, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reports. The 26-year-old agreed to a settlement with Dallas after he cleared waivers and reverted to the team's IR following Week 2 of preseason action. This transaction makes Sam eligible to sign elsewhere, given he can show other teams that his health isn't an issue.

Sam (undisclosed) reverted to IR on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Sam will be forced to miss the 2022 campaign, unless he can reach an injury settlement with the Cowboys and become a free agent.

Sam was waived by the Lions on Sunday, Tim Twentyman of the team's official site reports. The 2018 sixth-round pick is still looking for an opportunity to make his first NFL appearance. He spent his rookie year on injured reserve but has been healthy since October 2019.
