    Holmes is being evaluated for a concussion after leaving Sunday's preseason finale against the Jets, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Per Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record, Holmes was playing well but had to be carted to the locker room in the first half. He recorded one tackle before leaving the exhibition game.

    Holmes (illness) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday. Holmes landed in the health and safety protocols Dec. 23 and missed Monday's contest against the Dolphins as a result.     Holmes was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday after testing positive for the virus, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Holmes was promoted off the practice squad in early October and has 14 tackles in six games for New Orleans this season. He'll now be unavailable until he clears the health and safety protocols.

  • Saints' Jalyn Holmes: Joins active roster

    The Saints signed Holmes to their active roster off the practice squad Wednesday. Holmes was scooped up by the Saints after the Vikings cut him loose before the regular-season opener. Last year, the 2018 fourth-round pick played in 14 games and recorded 36 tackles and two pass deflections. The Ohio State product was on New Orleans' active roster for Week 2 and saw 12 defensive snaps and recorded one tackle. It's unclear how big of a role he will have in Week 5.

  • Vikings' Jalyn Holmes: Ruled out for season finale

    Holmes (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lions. Holmes will miss a second straight game to close out the 2020 campaign, which comes as no surprise given that he was unable to contribute any sort of practice participation throughout the week. The 24-year-old garnered only one start over Minnesota's first six games of the season, but an Oct. 22 trade of Yannick Ngakoue to Baltimore opened up opportunities for Holmes down the stretch. He registered eight straight starts between Weeks 8 and 15, concluding his season with 36 tackles, four QB hits and no sacks over 14 appearances.
