D'Cota Dixon: Waived Tuesday
Dixon was waived by the Buccaneers on Tuesday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
The undrafted Wisconsin product has yet to play a regular-season NFL snap since entering the league in 2019 after a shoulder injury wiped out his entire rookie campaign. Dixon will now look to land on another roster or potentially return to the Buccaneers via the practice squad.

Buccaneers' D'Cota Dixon: Needs another strong offseason
Dixon (shoulder) will compete for a starting role during training camp, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Dixon has yet to make his debut in the NFL, but he enjoyed a strong training camp as a rookie in 2019 prior to suffering a season-ending shoulder injury. Coach Bruce Arians said that Dixon was in the running for a starting gig when healthy, and he once again praised the Wisconsin product shortly after the conclusion of the 2019 campaign. He'll face strong competition from rookie second-round pick Antoine Winfield and veteran safety Andrew Adams, but Dixon should get another chance to compete for key reps when training camp officially kicks off. Should he underperform, on the other hand, Dixon may not even be guaranteed a spot on the 53-man roster.

Buccaneers' D'Cota Dixon: Could have shot at role in 2020
Coach Bruce Arians relayed that Dixon was in the running for the starting strong safety role before injuring his shoulder, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Dixon didn't have the opportunity to play a preseason game before injuring his shoulder, so there was no guarantee he would've secured that job or even a consistent reserve role. However, the fact that Arians dropped Dixon's name when asked about the safety situation means the boss hasn't forgotten about the undrafted rookie's promising training camp. Once Dixon is healthy, he'll likely compete for a starting role in 2020.

Buccaneers' D'Cota Dixon: Impressing at camp
Dixon received praise from coach Bruce Arians following Thursday's practice, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Dixon, an undrafted free agent, has seen his playing time increase in camp after making an early impression. The Wisconsin product won the 2018 Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year award and nabbed third-team All-Big Ten honors after recording 43 tackles in nine games. He is looking to earn a spot on the Bucs' final 53-man roster.
