Treston Decoud: Cut by Cowboys
Decoud was waived by the Cowboys on Friday, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
Decoud signed with Dallas on Nov. 1 and played three snaps on special teams Week 9 against the Titans. In corresponding moves, the Cowboys activated wide receivers Noah Brown (hamstring) from injured reserve and Lance Lenoir from the practice squad while also releasing wide receiver Deonte Thompson.

Cowboys' Treston Decoud: Signs with Dallas
The Cowboys signed Decoud off their practice squad Thursday, Rob Phillips of the team's official site reports.
The Oregon State product played 10 games with the Texans last season, recording seven tackles (six solo) and one pass breakup. With C.J. Goodwin (forearm) moving to injured reserve in a corresponding move, the Cowboys will fortify their depth at cornerback by bringing Decoud aboard the 53-man roster.

Texans' Treston Decoud: Moving to safety
The Texans are moving Decoud from cornerback to safety, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Decoud, a fifth-round draft pick in 2017, played 10 games (no starts) last season, finishing with seven tackles. At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, Decoud has the size to play safety and will compete for a backup job with rookie Justin Reid and veterans Corey Moore and Kurtis Drummond. Tyrann Mathieu and Andre Hal are the expected starting safeties as the Texans prepare for organized team activities later this month.

Texans' Treston Decoud: Likely special teamer as rookie
Decoud could play safety due to his size and willingness to hit and is expected be a core special-teams contributor during his rookie season, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The Texans took a hit in the secondary in the offseason, losing safety Quintin Demps and cornerback A.J. Bouye to free agency. They could use a combo guy to back up at both positions. Decoud's physical nature and length make him an interesting candidate but he needs to improve technique at cornerback.

Texans' Treston Decoud: Landing in Houston
The Texans selected Decoud in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, 169th overall.
In terms of size, Decoud checks all the boxes. He stands in at 6-foot-2, 206 pounds with long arms. Athletically, Decoud is a bit limited. It's also fair to wonder about his ball skills as he had just two interceptions in two seasons at Oregon State. Still, Decoud has the frame and toughness to cause problems at the line for opposing receivers, but Houston would likely need a high safety behind him to help in coverage.
