  • Jaguars' Jordan Smith: Participating in OTAs

Smith is participating in Jacksonville's OTAs after recovering from a torn ACL, John Oesher of the team's official site reports.

Smith tore his ACL during OTAs last year and will now look to be more cautious during this year's programs. The 2021 fourth-round pick has logged just one tackle (one solo) in two career games played and could find himself competing for a roster spot this summer.

  • Jaguars' Jordan Smith: Placed on injured reserve

Smith (knee) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.

Smith injured his knee in practice last Monday, then it was announced Thursday that he would be undergoing knee surgery and miss the entire upcoming season. The move to IR comes as no surprise, although it's still a disappointing blow to the second-year pro, who also missed the majority of his 2021 rookie season with a knee injury.

  • Jaguars' Jordan Smith: Out for season with knee injury

Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said Thursday that Smith is scheduled to have knee surgery and is expected to be sidelined for the entire 2022 season, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.

Smith made just two appearances as a rookie after being drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and it appears he'll miss a significant chunk of time with another knee injury. His absence shouldn't impact Jacksonville's linebacker rotation, but newcomers Devin Lloyd, Chad Muma and Foye Oluokun are all expected to garner major roles.

  • Jaguars' Jordan Smith: Injures knee at practice

Smith was helped to the locker room after he appeared to sustain an injury to his right knee Monday, Mark Long of the Associated Press reports.

It's a tough break for Smith, who only appeared in two games during his rookie season. Jacksonville's linebacking corps is very much in flux after the team lost starters Myles Jack and Damien Wilson to free agency, added Devin Lloyd and Chad Muma in this year's draft and signed Foye Oluokun to a massive contract in March, but Smith's place in the new mix largely may depend on the severity of this injury.

  • Jaguars' Jordan Smith: Activated off COVID-19 list

Smith (undisclosed) was activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday.

Smith landed in the league's health and safety protocols Christmas Day and was away from the team for six days, including for Jacksonville's Week 16 loss to the Jets. However, Smith hasn't appeared in a contest this season, so his absence -- and subsequent return -- have not impacted the Jaguars' game plan.

  • Jaguars' Jordan Smith: Lands on COVID list

TheJaguars have placed Smith on their reserve/COVID-19 list.

Smith will now need to clear the league's health and safety protocols before returning to practice. This leaves Jihad Ward and K'Lavon Chaisson as the only current available outside linebackers for Jacksonville heading into Sunday's game against the Jets.

  • Jaguars' Jordan Smith: Should be ready for debut

Smith (knee) practiced fully Thursday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Smith missed the first two games of the season, but his return to full practice Thursday after a limited session Wednesday suggests the rookie fourth-round pick should be ready to make his NFL debut Sunday against Arizona.

  • Jaguars' Jordan Smith: Inactive against Denver

Smith (knee) is inactive for Sunday's Week 2 matchup against Denver.

Smith practice in limited fashion all week, which made him a game-time decision. However, he isn't ready to retake the field yet and is now set to miss the Jaguars' first two contests of the season.

The Jaguars have listed Smith (knee) as questionable for Sunday's game against the Broncos, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.

  • Jaguars' Jordan Smith: Inactive against Houston

Smith (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Texans.

Smith, a fourth-round pick in this year's draft, won't be able to make his debut in the season opener due to a lingering knee injury. It remains to be seen whether he'll recover in time to be an option for next week's contest against the Broncos.
