Seahawks' Dareke Young: Quiet 2022 campaign
Young finished the 2022 regular season with two catches (two targets) for 24 yards.
The rookie seventh-round pick was effective enough on special teams to stay in the lineup even when he wasn't in the offensive game plan, but he finished with 105 offensive snaps over 13 games. He also caught his lone postseason target for an 11-yard gain. Young is a big-bodied receiver (6-3, 220) that ran a 4.47 40-yard dash, so he certainly has some upside. The former Division II receiver will need to make great strides during the offseason to secure an increased role in 2023.

Seahawks' Dareke Young: Makes first NFL catches
Young caught both of his targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 19-16 overtime win over the Rams.
Young ranked fourth among the team's wide receivers with a 24 percent snap share, and he caught his first two NFL passes in the process. The seventh-round rookie is a standout athlete that will remain active because of his role on special teams, but his offensive duties will fluctuate based on the game plan during the playoffs.

Young played two offensive snaps in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the 49ers and didn't record a catch.
Young did haul in a 22-yard pass in the second quarter, but it was negated by a holding call. That would've been his first career catch. He could have more opportunities to snag his first pass in Week 16 versus the Chiefs because Tyler Lockett is expected to miss at least one game with a broken finger, leaving DK Metcalf and Marquise Goodwin as the top pass catchers. Young and Penny Hart will battle for the No. 3 job, and it wouldn't be surprising to see both players handle a modest snap count.

Dee Eskridge's (hand) move to injured reserve ahead of the Week 12 contest didn't translate to any added opportunities on offense for Young. Rather than turning to Young to replace Eskridge as the Seahawks' No. 4 receiver, practice-squad call-up Laquon Treadwell (seven snaps) handled that role.

Seahawks' Dareke Young: Won't play Sunday
Young (quadricep) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Saints, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
Young practiced in a limited capacity to open the week Wednesday, but he's since failed to participate in either of Thursday's or Friday's sessions as he tends to a quadriceps issue. The 224-pound receiver saw four offensive snaps and five defensive snaps in the team's season opener against Denver; however, he's been sidelined in each of Seattle's subsequent three contests due to his injury. Young's next opportunity to return to action comes next Sunday against Arizona, where he'd likely serve as the Seahawks' No. 6 receiver behind Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf, Marquise Goodwin (knee/back), Dee Eskridge and Penny Hart.

A seventh-round pick out of Division II Lenoir-Rhyne, Young beat out third-year receiver Freddie Swain and rookie Bo Melton -- who was was selected four picks ahead of Young. The Seahawks had six receivers on their initial 53-man roster. Young isn't expected to have much of an impact this season, but his tools are intriguing for a long-term project. Young caught three of five targets for 43 yards in Friday's 27-26 preseason loss to the Cowboys.
Young started the game with the first-team offense and was targeted by Geno Smith twice on the first drive, though he dropped both passes. All three of his receptions were from Drew Lock in the second quarter. The rookie seventh-round pick ended up leading the team in receiving yards, too. It's certainly a positive sign that Young was handling first-team reps in the preseason finale, but he's far from a guarantee to make it past Tuesday's cuts.
