Texans' Jake Hummel: Moved to IR
The Texans placed Hummel (groin) on injured reserve Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Hummel has not practiced since sustaining a groin injury during the Texans' Week 1 loss to the Bills. The linebacker will now miss at least four games on IR before becoming eligible to return to the team's active roster. While Hummel is absent, Jake Hansen should continue to start alongside Azeez Al-Shaair and Aiden Fisher at linebacker.

Hummel (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Colts, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Hummel will be sidelined by a groin injury for a second consecutive week. He did not practice during Week 3 prep, so he'll look to return to practice in at least a limited capacity ahead of the Texans' Week 4 home tilt against the Cowboys on Sunday, Oct. 4. Hummel suffered a groin injury during the third quarter of Sunday's 36-31 loss to the Bills. The linebacker is considered week-to-week as he deals with the issue, so the fact he's ruled out for Week 2 is no surprise. Jake Hansen will likely continue to fill in for Hummel for as long as he remains sidelined.

Hummel played all 17 regular-season games for the Ravens in 2025, collecting 18 tackles (nine solo) in his primarily special-teams role. The linebacker was only called to play more than two defensive snaps once, which occurred in Baltimore's Week 4 loss to the Chiefs, where he logged 28 defensive snaps on top of his 22 special-teams snaps.
