Mailata is among a plethora of starters Philadelphia is sitting for rest purposes with the team having locked up the No. 2 playoff seed in the NFC. Joining Mailata as healthy inactives along the Eagles' offensive line are right tackle Lane Johnson and left guard Landon Dickerson.

However, the opening of his 21-day practice window Monday suggests he's nearing a return to the field.     The Eagles placed Mailata (hamstring) on injured reserve Friday. Mailata was injured in last Sunday's win over the Browns and was initially given a timetable of a "couple weeks" by coach Nick Sirianni. The Eagles' left tackle will now miss a minimum of four contests. He'll be eligible to return in Week 11 versus Washington. Fred Johnson replaced Mailata at left tackle following his injury last week and should get the first crack at serving as Jalen Hurts' blindside protector.

It now appears Mailata's hamstring injury is serious enough to sidelined him for the immediate future. Expect Fred Johnson to serve as the Eagles' top left tackle while Mailata recovers from injury.

    Mailata (hamstring) was seen using crutches after Sunday's 20-16 win over the Browns, Brandon Lee Gowton of Bleedinggreennation.com reports. Mailata was carted off the field after suffering the injury and almost immediately was ruled out for the rest of the game. Details of the injury are still unknown, but it does appear to be on the more serious side. More clarity on a recovery timeline will likely come later in the week.
