If Washington ultimately goes unclaimed, the cornerback will then revert back to the team's IR for the remainder of the season unless both parties reach an injury settlement at some point.

Washington will now return back to the Saints' practice squad after clearing the league's COVID-19 protocols. The cornerback is yet to step foot in an NFL game.
