  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Likely done for season

Lane was diagnosed with a fracture and dislocation of his left ankle after undergoing tests Monday and is expected to miss the remainder of the season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The second-year receiver out of Virginia Tech has been limited to 18 catches for 250 yards and no touchdowns on 34 targets over 19 career games, but he's emerged as one of the NFL's better punt returners since entering the league (13.3 yards per runback, two scores). However, after Lane went down with a severe ankle injury in Sunday's 30-13 loss to the Colts, the Commanders will now have to get by without the return ace for the final 13 games of the season. Rapoport notes that Lane's ankle has been stabilized since he suffered the injury, but he'll undergo further medical tests before a determination is made regarding what type of surgery he'll require.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Suffers serious ankle injury

Lane sustained a severe ankle injury during Sunday's 30-13 loss to the Colts, Tashan Reed of The Washington Post reports. The injury could cause Lane to stay overnight in London while undergoing more tests on his ankle. Given the initial diagnosis, it looks like the second-year pro won't play against the Giants in Week 5 and is likely facing a multi-week absence. Lane has primarily operated as a returner on special teams, and a prolonged absence would open the door to playing time for Luke McCaffrey (coach's decision).

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Ruled out for remainder of Week 4

Lane (ankle) has been officially ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's matchup against the Colts in London, England, Tashan Reed of The Washington Post reports. Lane suffered an ankle injury during a kickoff return early in the third quarter and had to be carted off the field. He appeared unable to put any weight on his left leg and was ruled out from returning shortly thereafter. Dyami Brown handled Washington's next kickoff return and could take over in that role during Lane's absence.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Seven returns in loss

Lane returned six kickoffs for 120 yards and one punt for 14 yards in Sunday's 37-20 loss to the Cowboys. Lane saw no targets during his 11 offensive snaps in Sunday's loss. The wide receiver's contributions came on special teams, where he returned the ball on seven of his nine snaps. Lane remains a depth option at wide receiver but is the primary kickoff and punt returner for the Commanders as the team heads into its Week 3 matchup with the Seahawks.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: On track to play Sunday

Lane (groin) does not carry an official injury designation ahead of Sunday's game at Dallas. Lane was limited at practice all week because of a groin issue, but it won't keep him off the field in Week 2. He should resume his role as a primary punt and kickoff returner against the Cowboys on Sunday.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Still limited at practice Thursday

Lane (groin) was a limited participant at practice Thursday. Lane was an unexpected addition to the Commanders' injury report Wednesday, and now his status for Week 2 genuinely appears to be in question. Unless he logs a full practice Friday, there's a decent chance he'll end up carrying an injury designation into the weekend.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Done for 2025

The Commanders placed Lane (ankle) on injured reserve Monday. The rookie fourth-rounder was already unlikely to play against the Cowboys on Christmas Day due to an ankle injury he sustained during Saturday's loss to the Eagles, and his placement on IR means he won't be available for Washington's final two games of the regular season. Lane will finish his first NFL regular season with 16 catches (on 32 targets) for 225 yards across 15 games, though he failed to record a reception in each of the four games following the Commanders' Week 12 bye. His impact was felt more on special teams as a returner, where he turned 23 punt returns into 314 yards and two touchdowns and logged 56 yards on three kickoff returns.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Unlikely to play Christmas Day

Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters Sunday that "it would be tough" for Lane (ankle) to be available for the Commanders' Christmas Day game against the Cowboys on Thursday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports. Lane sustained an ankle injury during the first quarter of Saturday's 29-18 loss to the Eagles. The injury was severe enough for him to not return, and he is facing an uphill battle to play in Thursday's NFC East contest. If he's unable to play, then Deebo Samuel would be the top candidate to serve as the main returner on kickoffs and punts.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Downgraded to out

Lane (ankle) has been downgraded to out for Saturday's game against the Eagles. Lane will miss the remainder of Saturday's divisional matchup due to an ankle injury suffered in the first quarter. In his stead, Deebo Samuel will operate as Washington's top kick returner, while Treylon Burks and Chris Moore will stand to benefit from increased offensive snaps.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Questionable to return Saturday

Lane (ankle) is questionable to return to Saturday's game against the Eagles. Lane was forced off the field due to an ankle injury midway through the first quarter Saturday. As long as he remains sidelined, Treylon Burks and Chris Moorewill stand to see a slight uptick in reserve opportunities behind Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Delivers return TD in win

Lane failed to secure his lone target and returned three punts for 91 yards -- including a 63-yard touchdown -- in Sunday's 29-21 win over the Giants. Lane was on the field for 28 of the Commanders' 61 snaps on offense, with his 46 percent share marking his highest rate since Week 9. The rookie fourth-round pick was still a relative afterthought in the passing attack, but he contributed the game's biggest play late in the second quarter, when his punt return for a touchdown gave Washington a 12-point lead. With Noah Brown (rib) landing on injured reserve Tuesday, Lane could continue to see ample playing time on offense, but he'll likely remain an unreliable fantasy option while Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel are locked in as quarterback Marcus Mariota's top targets.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Limited at practice to start week

Lane (hip) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday. Lane made an early exit from the Week 11 loss to Miami in Madrid. He's on the injury report after a Week 12 bye, albeit with some level of practice participation. Either way, Lane is unlikely to see many targets over the next few weeks, as fellow wideouts Terry McLaurin (quad) and Noah Brown (groin/knee) should be back in action fairly soon.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Sustains hip injury Sunday

Lane was forced out of Sunday's game against the Dolphins in Madrid during the third quarter due to a hip injury and is listed as questionable to return. The rookie wideout hauled in his lone target for a 13-yard gain and returned one punt for zero yards before checking out of the contest with the hip issue.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Makes most of only catch

Lane brought in his only target for a 41-yard gain during Washington's loss to the Lions in Week 10. Lane played just 14 offensive snaps Week 10, his lowest total of the season (tied with Week 3). However, the rookie fourth-round pick looks positioned to operate as a crucial playmaker for quarterback Marcus Mariota as the Commanders face off against the Dolphins in Madrid on Sunday. Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Treylon Burks (finger) have both already been ruled out for Week 11, leaving Lane as one of the team's top available wideouts alongside Deebo Samuel. The Commanders also have Robbie Chosen, Chris Moore and Jacoby Jones on the active roster.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Week 10 Waiver Priority List

The Commanders are struggling with injuries at receiver heading into Week 10 against Detroit with Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Luke McCaffrey (collarbone) both out. Lane could have a prominent role opposite Deebo Samuel, and Lane is worth adding in deeper leagues for 1 percent of your remaining FAB. In Week 9 against Seattle, Lane had three catches for 29 yards on five targets, and he had three catches for 60 yards on six targets in Week 7 at Dallas.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Solid performance in Week 9

Lane caught three of five targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 38-14 loss to the Seahawks. Lane played 41 offensive snaps and served as Washington's No. 3 wideout while Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Noah Brown (groin) were sidelined in Week 9. The rookie from Virginia Tech tied his career high with three receptions and finished as the Commanders' third-leading receiver Sunday. He also contributed on special teams, returning two punts and one kickoff for 41 total yards. Following Sunday's performance, Lane's offensive role could continue to grow heading into the Week 10 matchup against the Lions.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Shares No. 4 wideout role in Week 8

Lane caught one pass for zero yards on two targets while playing 23 of the Commanders' 53 snaps on offense in Monday's 28-7 loss to the Chiefs. He also returned two kickoffs for 30 yards and one punt for 14 yards. Lane's 43 percent snap share tied him with Chris Moore for fourth among Washington wideouts, trailing Deebo Samuel, Luke McCaffrey and Terry McLaurin. Both Samuel and McLaurin had returned to action following injury-related absences, though McLaurin was limited to just 25 snaps after suffering an apparent aggravation of his quadriceps injury late in the contest. If McLaurin isn't cleared to play in Washington's next game Sunday versus the Seahawks, Lane could be in line for increased opportunities in the passing game, though he would still make for an unreliable option in fantasy lineups.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Leading receiver on six targets

Lane brought in three of six targets for 60 yards in Sunday's 44-22 loss to the Cowboys. Lane finished as the Commanders' leading receiver in a game that Washington's top three receivers were forced to miss. The fourth-round rookie responded well by recording his best receiving line through seven pro appearances. With an extra day of rest between before next Monday's tilt against Kansas City, Lane could see his role reduced based on how many starters (if any) are able to return in Week 8.
... See More ... See Less
  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Target boost likely Sunday

Lane should see a boost in targets in Sunday's Week 7 clash against the Cowboys due to the inactive status of Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Deebo Samuel (heel), as well as the absence of Noah Brown (IR, groin/knee). The rookie fourth-round pick has been modestly involved in the early stages of his NFL career, logging 15 targets over his first six contests. However, with the Commanders' wide-receiver corps especially thin Sunday and Washington set to have to remain aggressive with a potent Dallas offense on the other side, Lane, along with Luke McCaffrey and Chris Moore, appears set to serve as one of Jayden Daniels' top targets when dropping back.

  • Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Totals 43 yards in defeat

Lane caught one of two targets for 37 yards and rushed one time for seven yards in the Commanders' loss to the Bears on Monday night. With Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Noah Brown (groin/knee) continuing to miss time, Lane saw an elevated role on offense, playing 42 percent of the snaps. He also returned one punt for nine yards on special teams. On the season, the fourth-round rookie has seven grabs for 82 scoreless yards on 15 targets, and 13 punt returns for 186 yards and one touchdown.
