Baker (knee) wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report and is expected to be available for Sunday's matchup with the Bears, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Baker has been battling the knee injury since July, and now he'll have his first chance to play with his new team. He'll be tasked with putting pressure on Bears quarterback Mike Glennon and containing the running-back duo of Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen.
Baker didn't partake in Monday's practice due to a suspected right knee injury, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The Buccaneers haven't offered an official comment regarding Baker's injury, but he was spotted icing his right knee on the sideline Monday, so that's presumably the reason behind his absence. Assuming the injury doesn't limit him too much during camp, Baker should open his first season in Tampa Bay in a starting role at defensive tackle after accruing 9.5 sacks over his past two campaigns with the Redskins.
Baker had 47 tackles and 3.5 sacks with the Redskins last season. The 29-year old defensive end will fit in alongside William Gholston, Robert Ayers, and Gerald McCoy on the Buccaneers defensive line in 2017.
Baker was questionable to play due to an ankle issue entering the contest but was cleared to play. While his five tackles were good for fifth on the team, nearly every Washington defender was overshadowed by Mason Foster's 17 total tackles.
