John Erskine suspended three games for elbowing Wayne Simmonds
Washington Capitals defenseman John Erskine has been suspended three games.
The NHL's on-ice officials might have missed it, but the watchful eye of Brendan Shanahan and the player safety department did not.
Shanhan called it a reckless elbow and added that Simmonds not returning to the game played into the decision to suspend Erskine for three games. The entire explanation is here:
Erskine will lose more than $24,000 in salary as a result of the suspension.
