  • Sabres' Taylor Leier: Clears waivers

Leier has cleared waivers and will remain in AHL Rochester, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.

Leier signed an NHL contract on Monday, and he had to clear waivers to remain eligible for AHL Rochester. The contract suggests he would be one of the first options for a call-up should there be injuries to the Sabres forward group.

  • Sabres' Taylor Leier: Secures NHL deal

Leier agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with Buffalo on Monday worth $700,000.

Leier has been playing for AHL Rochester on a minor-league deal and appears to have shown the organization enough to warrant a two-way contract. The 26-year-old has notched seven goals and one helper in 17 outings for the Americans this season. With his contract in hand, the winger is eligible to be promoted to the NHL, though he will need to clear waivers first.

  • Sabres' Taylor Leier: Long-awaited return

Leier, finally recovered from labrum surgery, plans to make his season debut Wednesday for Rochester of the AHL, Bill Hoppe of The Buffalo News reports.

The forward tore his labrum in a freak off-ice accident and has yet to make his debut for the 2019-20 season. Leier finished well after being acquired by the Sabres organization in exchange for Justin Bailey last season, finishing with 23 points in 35 games, so he'll finally get a chance to get back at it and prove he deserves more than just a one-way deal.

  • Sabres' Taylor Leier: Out indefinitely

Leier (shoulder) is considered out indefinitely.

Leier has yet to play this season after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery and remains without a timetable for his return to the lineup. Once he's healthy, the 25-year-old will be a key piece up front for AHL Rochester, but he won't have a role with the big club in 2019-20.

  • Sabres' Taylor Leier: Re-ups with Buffalo organization

Leier (undisclosed) signed a one-year contract with Rochester of the AHL for the 2019-20 season, Jason Wolf of The Buffalo News reports.

Leier is currently recovering from an undisclosed surgery, but is expected to be ready for the upcoming season. While Leier posted a solid 42 points in 69 games last season for a couple of AHL organizations, he's viewed as more of a depth piece than anything else.

  • Sabres' Taylor Leier: Traded to Buffalo

The Flyers traded Leier to the Sabres in exchange for Justin Bailey on Thursday.

This is nothing more than a swap of minor-league assets, as Leier and Bailey both have yet to appear in an NHL contest this campaign. The 24-year-old forward will undoubtedly report to his new club's AHL affiliate.

  • Flyers' Taylor Leier: Placed on waivers

Leier was designated for waivers by the Flyers on Monday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

While Leier will likely begin the season in the minors, a looming legal situation for Jori Lehtera could muddy the waters for the Flyers lineup. In the meantime, the youngster Leier will suit up with the Phantoms for the start of the 2018-19 campaign.

  • Flyers' Taylor Leier: Inks new deal

Leier signed a one-year extension with the Flyers on Sunday, CapFriendly reports. The deal is worth $720,000.

As noted by CapFriendly, Leier actually accepted a less lucrative deal in order to ensure that he wouldn't fall under two-way terms. This means he should be up for most -- if not all -- of 2018-19. He has accumulated seven points and maintained a minus-8 rating over 55 NHL games, so the Flyers will be expecting improvement from Leier in the upcoming season.

  • Flyers' Taylor Leier: Takes arbitration step

Leier applied for salary arbitration Thursday, according to NHLPA.com.

Leier hasn't been given much of a chance to shine, as he's only drawn into 55 NHL games and averaged 9:56 of ice time. Over that span, the pivot's recorded a mere two goals and five assists. Leier protects the puck well and he's being groomed on the penalty kill, but we can't see him being worth much more than the $806,558 that he received on his last one-year deal with the Flyers.

  • Flyers' Taylor Leier: Won't hit free agency

Leier was extended a qualifying offer from the Flyers on Monday, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Leier saw action in just 39 games for Philadelphia last season, but didn't spend any time in the minors for the first time in his career. While it's a step in the right direction, the winger's inability to secure regular minutes limits his fantasy value. Even when he is in the lineup, the 23-year-old figures to be in a bottom-six role.

  • Flyers' Taylor Leier: Small role in 2017-18

Leier skated in 39 games during 2017-18, averaging 10:29 of ice time while pitching in a goal and four assists.

After starting the season with the bottom six, Leier appeared in 21 of the first 23 games, but then entered the rotation between the ice and press box before being a healthy scratch for the last 22 games. Leier flashed offensive ability in the minors in 2015-16 scoring 37 points (13 goals, 24 assists) in 48 games, and although he plays a sound two-way game, he likely needs more time adjusting to professional play and needs to keep adapting with his small 5' 10" frame. The 24-year-old should push again for a roster spot, but even if he makes the team, he'll likely appear on the fourth line.

  • Flyers' Taylor Leier: Could be unglued from pine

Leier is likely to draw into the lineup Thursday evening against the Hurricanes, Adam Kimelman of NHL.com reports.

Leier, who's a third-year winger, has naturally seen an increase in playing time as he picks up the nuances of a fast-paced NHL game, though his pace of development has been painfully slow. Certainly, it doesn't help matters that the 2012 fourth-round draft pick has only converted one goal on 45 shots for a 2.2 shooting percentage this campaign, but at least for Thursday's game, he's projected for duty on the No. 2 power-play unit, making for an incredibly sneaky value play in DFS settings.

  • Flyers' Taylor Leier: Rarely playing

Leier has dressed for just seven of the past 23 games.

Leier has scored in the WHL and AHL, so it wouldn't be shocking if he made strides over the coming seasons. However, as it stands, he's obviously not receiving the opportunity to succeed at the highest level. The 23-year-old winger has collected a goal and four assists through 35 games for the campaign, so it's safe to continue ignoring him in most seasonal settings.

  • Flyers' Taylor Leier: Slotting in Saturday

Leier (upper body) will man the fourth line Saturday against the Blue Jackets, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Leier wasn't expected to play Saturday and was a late addition to the lineup, replacing Jordan Weal. The 23-year-old winger has one goal and three assists through 28 games this season.

  • Flyers' Taylor Leier: Sitting out Saturday

Leier (upper body) will not dress for Saturday's game against the Blue Jackets, Bill Meltzer of NHL.com reports.

Leier continues to nurse an upper-body ailment that surfaced prior to Wednesday's game against the Red Wings. His absence shouldn't cause major ripples in most fantasy leagues considering he's collected just four points (one goal, three assists) through 28 games this season. Leier's next opportunity to rejoin the action arrives Thursday against the Panthers.

  • Flyers' Taylor Leier: Status quo

Coach Ron Hextall did not provide an update on Leier's (upper body) status heading into Friday's clash with Buffalo, Dave Issac of the Courier Post reports.

The news effectively rules Leier out of the lineup considering he was a late scratch Wednesday due to his upper-body malady. Even when healthy, the winger has not offered much in terms of fantasy value, as he has tallied one helper, two PIM and 11 shots on goal in his previous seven outings. Jori Lehtera figures to remain on the fourth line in Leier's stead.

  • Flyers' Taylor Leier: Late scratch Wednesday with upper-body ailment

Leier was scratched late from Wednesday's lineup against the Red Wings due to an upper-body ailment.

Leier's absence is unlikely to have many ramifications from a fantasy standpoint, but the 23-year-old will miss at least Wednesday's contest as a result of the injury. Jori Lehtera drew into the lineup in his place and seems the likely candidate to do so moving forward should Leier miss additional time.

  • Flyers' Taylor Leier: Scores in overtime loss

Leier scored a goal through just 7:34 of ice time during Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Islanders.

Not only did the tally snap a 10-game point drought, it was also the first of the season for the 23-year-old winger. Leier is averaging just 11:20 of ice time per game this season, and he's currently skating on the fourth line and not receiving power-play time. With the single goal and just two helpers through 20 games for the campaign, Leier is not a viable option in the majority of fantasy setups.

  • Flyers' Taylor Leier: Healthy scratch Tuesday

Leier (undisclosed) was cleared to play, but head coach Ron Hextall elected to keep him on the bench for Tuesday's game against the Ducks, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

It was previously implied that he was going to continue sitting out due to his mystery ailment, but it appears that Hextall is just opting for Dale Weise. Now that Leier is healthy, though, he'll have to work his way back into the lineup. His next chance will be Thursday in Ottawa.

  • Flyers' Taylor Leier: Surprise scratch Tuesday

Leier (undisclosed) won't play Tuesday against the Ducks, Bill Meltzer of NHL.com reports.

Per Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Leier was expected to return to the lineup for Tuesday evening's contest, but it appears as though he may have tweaked something during pregame warmups. Dale Weise will replace the 23-year-old forward on the Flyers' fourth line against Anaheim.
