Jets' Elias Salomonsson: In concussion protocol
Salomonsson is in the concussion protocol after getting hurt on a hit in Thursday's game against the Stars, Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Salomonsson was injured on a reverse hit by Jason Robertson. Given the nature of the injury, Salomonsson will have to wait to return to the lineup until he is no longer suffering from concussion symptoms. That puts his availability in doubt for Saturday's game against the Blue Jackets, which opens the door for Ville Heinola or Jacob Bryson to step into the lineup.

Salomonsson scored a goal on four shots and went plus-2 in Friday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Ducks.

His tally at 1:27 of the third period put the Jets ahead 3-1, but it wasn't enough. Through 15 NHL contests, he's posted 21 shots on net, 16 hits, 14 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating in a bottom-four role.

Jets' Elias Salomonsson: Set to miss out versus Blues
Salomonsson (illness) is not expected to play in Tuesday's clash with St. Louis.
Even when healthy, Salomonsson is far from a lock to play on a nightly basis and could find himself serving as a healthy scratch periodically. With the blueliner on the shelf, Isaak Phillips will play in just his second NHL game this year. If the Jets can get all of their defenseman back to 100 percent, Salomonsson will likely head back to the minors at some point.
