  • Victor Ejdsell: Qualified by Chicago

The Blackhawks have extended Ejdsell a qualifying offer, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports.

Ejdsell has already decided to play for Farjestad BK of the SHL in 2019-20, but the Blackhawks will own his NHL rights should he decide to return to North America in the future. The 6-foot-5 forward spent the entirety of the 2018-19 campaign with AHL Rockford, notching 12 goals and 29 points in 61 contests.

  • Victor Ejdsell: Signs overseas

Ejdsell signed a two-year contract with Farjestad BK of the SHL on Thursday, Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

The Blackhawks still own Ejdsell's NHL rights as an upcoming restricted free agent, but at this point it seems highly unlikely that they'll extend him a qualifying offer by the June 25 deadline. If the team lets him go, the 23-year-old forward will almost certainly remain overseas for the remainder of his professional playing career.

  • Blackhawks' Victor Ejdsell: Sent to AHL affiliate

The Blackhawks assigned Ejdsell to AHL Rockford on Wednesday.

This move doesn't come as a huge surprise, as Ejdsell has been outplayed by the likes of Luke Johnson and Dominik Kahun during training camp. The Blackhawks will hope the towering 6-foot-5 forward can continue to improve his skating in the minors this season, as he simply isn't able to keep up with NHL-level talent at this stage. Ejdsell will be on the short list of potential call-ups throughout the campaign, but won't be worth consideration in fantasy until he's able to lock down a permanent role with the big club.

  • Blackhawks' Victor Ejdsell: Focused on speed during offseason training

Ejdsell focused on his skating and speed during offseason training in his native Sweden, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports.

At 6-foot-5 and 214 pounds, Ejdsell's skating will almost certainly never be one of his strengths, but it's encouraging to see that he's aware it will need to improve in order for him to succeed at the NHL level. On Saturday at the Traverse City rookie tournament Ejdsell told Powers "Well, obviously my Achilles has always been my speed. That's been my priority the last several years, to get stronger in the legs and get faster. It's a process. Nothing happens overnight." The 23-year-old forward, who impressed during last season's AHL playoffs with seven goals and 12 points in 13 contests, could carve out a role in the Blackhawks' top nine while also getting looks on the man advantage this campaign, making him a player fantasy owners in deeper formats will want to keep an eye on.
