  • Egor Yakovlev: Headed back to KHL

Yakovlev agreed to terms on a two-year contract with Metallurg Magnitogorsk on Wednesday.

After just one season in North America, in which he logged 25 games with the Devils, Yakovlev will return to the KHL, where he played from 2012-18. In his brief NHL stint, the blueliner notched two goals, five helpers and 24 shots. At this point, it's hard to imagine the Russian will get another chance to secure a spot in the NHL.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Plays 25 games in first NHL season

Yakovlev dished out an assist in Saturday's season finale against Florida, finishing the season with two goals and five helpers in 25 appearances.

Yakovlev has some intriguing offensive instincts and even filled in at forward for a bit when injuries struck, but it remains to be seen whether the 27-year-old unrestricted free agent will opt to stick in the NHL or return to his native Russia next season.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Shaping up as healthy scratch

Yakovlev (undisclosed) is projected to be a healthy scratch for Saturday's game against the Blues, according to Mike G. Moreale of NHL.com.

We suspect that if Yakovlev was still dealing with his undisclosed issue, he would have been listed in the injury section of that NHL.com preview. Either way, the rookie defenseman's status won't cause much of a stir in the fantasy realm, as he's only averaged 15:37 of ice time with six points through 24 games. However, keep him in mind for future seasons, as his numbers would be serviceable if projected out over the course of a full campaign.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Won't draw in Friday

Yakovlev (undisclosed) won't be in the lineup versus the Red Wings on Friday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.

Yak will miss a third straight game with his mystery issue, but Mirco Mueller is healthy after sustaining a scary in late February to help the Devils avoid major leaks on the blue line.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Not in Monday's lineup

Yakovlev (undisclosed) is out Monday against Buffalo, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Back in action Tuesday

Yakovlev (upper body) will rejoin the lineup Tuesday against the Capitals, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.

After three games on the sidelines, Yakovlev will provide some reinforcement along the blue line for a beat-up Devils squad. The rookie isn't a huge threat in terms of fantasy, racking up six points in 22 games, but he does sport a 9.1 shooting percentage on the campaign. Yakovlev has seen the ice for just 15:21 on average and doesn't participate in the power play, so there isn't much upside for the blueliner.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Out of lineup Sunday

Yakolev (upper body) will not see the ice in Sunday's contest against Colorado, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.

The rookie blueliner -- one of many injured Devils -- will sit for his third consecutive game with the upper-body issue. Yakolev doesn't have a set timetable for his return to the lineup, but his next chance will come against Washington on Tuesday.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Remains sidelined

Yakovlev (upper body) won't be in the lineup against Vancouver on Friday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.

Yakovlev will miss his second game due to his upper-body issue. The defender struggled for a spot in the lineup earlier in the year and may be hard-pressed to secure minutes down the stretch, especially once Sami Vatanen (illness) and Mirco Mueller (shoulder) are cleared to return.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Recalled from minors

Yakovlev was called up from AHL Binghamton on Monday.

The 28-year-old defenseman has been making spot appearances throughout the season for the Devils, including as recently as Feb. 5. When a move like this happens on trade deadline day, it makes you wonder if another move may be coming, but this could just be another call-up for Yakovlev.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Returned to AHL affiliate

The Devils assigned Yakovlev to AHL Binghamton on Friday.

The Devils may be demoting Yakovlev in order to make room for another forward, as Miles Wood suffered an upper-body injury during Thursday's loss to the Islanders and may not be available for Saturday's matchup with Minnesota. Yakovlev, a rookie blueliner, has notched five points in 14 appearances with the big club this campaign.

Yakovlev (head) is expected to play Tuesday evening against the Kings, per Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Sustains apparent head injury

Yakovlev was hit in the back of the head by a Shea Weber shot in Saturday's game against the Canadiens, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.

The freak accident occurred midway through the third period. We can only imagine what it would feel like to get hit with a puck, let alone from a player who packs one of the heaviest shots in the league in Weber. The Russian reportedly stayed on the bench after the play, but Yakovlev should be considered day-to-day ahead of Sunday's game against the Kings.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Reascends to NHL

Yakovlev was called up from AHL Binghamton on Sunday.

Yakovlev is back with the parent club in the wake of news that Ben Lovejoy (upper body) has been placed on injured reserve. The Russian has one goal and three assists working against a minus-5 rating through his first 11 games in the NHL.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Back in AHL for now

Yakovlev was reassigned to AHL Binghamton on Saturday.

Yakovlev has shown plenty of promise in the attacking zone, adding a goal and three helpers over his first 11 NHL games. We're guessing he wouldn't have been bussed back to the minor league if New Jersey wasn't about to be off the grid for eight straight days due to the team's bye week and ensuing All-Star break.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Called up from minors

Yakovlev was promoted from AHL Binghamton on Monday.

Yakovlev hasn't played in an NHL game since Dec. 10 and is unlikely to slot into the lineup for Monday's matchup with Chicago either. The Russian defenseman figures to provide some extra depth on the blue line and will likely be headed back to the minors once the Devils need the extra spot on the 23-man roster.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Sent back to minors

Yakovlev was reassigned to AHL Binghamton on Friday.

Yakovlev has been a healthy scratch for the better part of his season with the Devils. The 27-year-old blueliner hasn't played in any of the Devils' last 14 games, and therefore it shouldn't be much of a surprise that he's the one to move back to the minors.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Back up with big club

Yakovlev was recalled from AHL Binghamton on Monday.

The 27-year-old defenseman has spent most of his time with the Devils as a healthy scratch, but Yakovlev, in 11 NHL appearances this season, does have a goal and three assists. That said, we don't recommend hitching your fantasy wagon to the Russian rearguard.

  • Devils' Egor Yakovlev: Shifts back to minors

The Devils reassigned Yakovlev to AHL Binghamton on Sunday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.

Yakovlev was sent down to make room for Cameron Johnson, who was needed to back up Keith Kinkaid since MacKenzie Blackwood (lower body) will be sitting out. The 27-year-old blueliner has been a healthy scratch for 11 straight games while with the big club, so Yaklovev being the roster casualty isn't a surprise. When the Devils' crease gets healthy again, he'll likely return to the big club for depth.
