Napoli need to act fast to appoint a new manager as Antonio Conte reportedly prepares for Juventus reunion
It will be a busy week on the coaching carousel for Italian teams after the end of the 2024-25 Serie A season

Despite winning the 2024-25 Serie A title, Napoli seem set to be in for a lot of changes this summer. Italian manager Antonio Conte is set to leave the Azzurri, per multiple reports, and he's expected to join Juventus where he will make his comeback after coaching the team from 2011 to 2014. With Conte seemingly all but gone, Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has already prepared what's next at the club. Napoli are preparing for a new era, with former Manchester City superstar Kevin De Bruyne increasingly ready to join the Azzurri to start a new chapter in Italy in Serie A. The news of Conte leaving isn't something unexpected, as the manager spoke on the matter multiple times over the past few weeks, suggesting he was ready to leave in the summer regardless the outcome of the 2024-25 season.
Conte wasn't happy with how the club handled some issues over the past season, starting from the transfer of Georgian star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in January, who was probably the most talented player in the roster. De Laurentiis knew Conte was a manager for the short term, and this is why he opened talks with Massimiliano Allegri in the past weeks, to takeover Napoli in the summer 2025.
But Napoli isn't the only club sounding out Allegri. The former Juventus manager has been associated with multiple teams over recent weeks, including AS Roma and AC Milan. Napoli need to speed up the process of replacing the head coach for a specific reason. Inter will face PSG in the UEFA Champions League final on May 31 and there are increasing reports that the Nerazzurri manager, Simone Inzaghi, will also leave the Italian club after the final, as Saudi team Al-Ahli has put on the table around $20 million per season to appoint the Italian coach, per multiple reports. This is why Napoli need to be quick. If Inzaghi leaves Inter, the Nerazzurri are also reportedly interested in appointing Allegri, but their decision can't come before May 31. If Napoli appoint Allegri this week, Inter will have a bigger issue ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup starting on June 14 and especially ahead of the 2025-26 season. It's like a chess game, and this week we'll see if De Laurentiis is thinking three moves ahead.
