Thunder's Cason Wallace: Goes cold from deep
Wallace finished Tuesday's 116-104 victory over the Spurs with six points (3-8 FG, 0-4 3Pt), three rebounds, two assists and one steal over 19 minutes.
Wallace started alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander but failed to convert any of his four attempts from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, reserve guard Jared McCain erupted for 20 points and six three-pointers in 22 minutes, outscoring Wallace despite coming off the bench. Wallace's defensive contributions should keep him involved, but competition for backcourt minutes could make his offensive production inconsistent.

Thunder's Cason Wallace: Not listed on injury report
Wallace (undisclosed) is not listed on the injury report ahead of Tuesday's regular-season opener against the Spurs, Justin Martinez of The Oklahoman reports.
Wallace skipped Oklahoma City's final three exhibition games for rest purposes, but he'll be out there for Opening Night. After inking a five-year, $139 million extension, the 23-year-old forward is locked in as a starter for the Thunder, making him an enticing, late-round target given his massive upside in steals.

The 22-year-old wing has developed into one of the more impressive two-way players in the league, earning Second Team All-Defense honors last season. Wallace could be in line for an expanded role going forward with the departures of Luguentz Dort, Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins.

Thunder's Cason Wallace: Pegged for larger role
Thunder general manager Sam Presti said the organization thinks "very highly" of Wallace and indicated that trading Luguentz Dort was partly a reflection of the team's belief in the 22-year-old guard, according to Rylan Stiles of SI.com.
Wallace started 58 regular-season games in 2025-26, averaging 9.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.1 steals in 27.7 minutes per game in those contests. With Dort no longer in Oklahoma City, Wallace appears positioned for an increased role and could become a full-time starter in 2026-27.

Thunder's Cason Wallace: Could become full-time starter
Wallace is the most likely replacement for Luguentz Dort in Oklahoma City's starting lineup after Dort was traded to the Hawks in mid-July, according to Anthony Slater of ESPN.
The Thunder traded Dort, Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe in cost-cutting maneuvers this offseason, leaving increased playing time available for the likes of Ajay Mitchell, Jared McCain and Wallace. The 22-year-old started 58 of his 77 regular-season appearances in 2025-26 due in large part to Jalen Williams (hamstring) missing significant time, and with Dort out of the picture, Wallace has a strong chance to carve out a full-time role in the starting lineup in the 2026-27 campaign. He averaged 9.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.1 steals across 27.7 minutes per game in his 58 starts last regular season.

Thunder's Cason Wallace: Could see larger role
According to Bryan Toporek of Forbes, Oklahoma City's decision to trade Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins and Luguentz Dort was driven largely by financial considerations, creating a larger opportunity for Wallace entering 2026-27.
Wallace has already established himself as one of the Thunder's top perimeter defenders, and he could take on a more prominent offensive role while continuing to split backcourt minutes with Alex Caruso, Ajay Mitchell and Jared McCain. Wallace's all-around game will give him plenty of intrigue late in fantasy drafts.
