Rockets' Armoni Brooks: Connects on three triples Wednesday
Brooks had 18 points (7-10 FG, 4-7 3Pt), four rebounds, two blocks and two steals across 30 minutes during Wednesday's 114-110 win over the Thunder.
Brooks took advantage of a favorable situation Wednesday, ending with a season-high 18 points in the victory. The four defensive numbers are not going to stick, but he has proven his ability to score in bunches when afforded additional playing time. The Rockets could be without their two starting guards, at least for the short-term, meaning Brooks is at least worth considering for streaming purposes.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Armoni Brooks: Providing instant offense off bench
Brooks said after the Rockets' morning shootaround prior to Monday's game against the Thunder that he's regained confidence in his shooting stroke since emerging as a rotation player for Houston last week, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports. "Getting consistent minutes allows you to get in the flow of the game," he said. "You get out there and you run up and down a little bit, get a little loose, and then once you find your spots, you're able to confidently knock down your shots."
Brooks has been the prime beneficiary of the recent absences of Jalen Green (hamstring) and Kevin Porter along with the decision to phase Daniel Theis out of the rotation in favor of small-ball lineups. With at least one of those three players sitting out in each of the past three games, Brooks has popped, averaging 14.3 points and 4.3 three-pointers in 20.7 minutes per contest over that stretch. That offense has come on the back of an unsustainable 52 percent success rate from downtown, but Brooks should still remain a strong two-category streamer with Green expected to remain out for at least another week and Theis not looking like a part of the Rockets' near-term plans while the 3-16 squad is in the midst of its first winning streak of the season.... Brooks registered 17 points (5-9 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds, two assists and three steals across 25 minutes during Monday's 108-90 loss to the Celtics.
This was easily the best game of the season for Brooks, who set new season highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals and minutes. He benefited from the absence of Kevin Porter (quad), as well as the game turning into a lopsided blowout midway through the third quarter. On a night when Houston shot just 37.3 percent as a team, Brooks was the only Rockets player to score in double figures.... See More ... See Less

Since joining the Rockets a month ago on a two-way deal, Brooks has quietly emerged as an elite source of three-point production. According to Mark Berman of Fox 26 Houston, Brooks' 44 three-pointers are an NBA record for a player's first 17 games of his career, breaking the mark previously set by Damian Lillard in 2012-13. With the 16-53 Rockets firmly in evaluation mode for their final three games of the season, the 22-year-old Brooks should have ample opportunity to fire away from distance the rest of the way.... Brooks has taken advantage of extra playing time due to the plethora of injuries plaguing the 15th-seeded Rockets. Making another start with John Wall shut down for the season, Brooks struggled from the field and did not make any defensive contributions in his 31 minutes of action.
