Brooks had his two-way contract upgraded to a standard deal on Thursday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. The contract is for four years, but only the first year is guaranteed.
Brooks has scored well in the preseason for the Rockets, as he's averaged 10.0 points on 56.3 percent shooting in 13.2 minutes. He also got run toward the end of the season in Houston last year, where he averaged 11.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 26.0 minutes.
