Why Wyoming can cover

The Cowboys have a strong ground attack that's led by Xazavian Valladay, who has rushed for 984 yards and five touchdowns this year. The senior, who gained 1,265 yards in 2019, is on the verge of joining Dabby Dawson, Ryan Christopherson and Brian Hill as the only running backs in school history with two 1,000-yard seasons. Valladay gained admission into an exclusive club earlier this campaign, becoming the second Cowboy to reach the 3,000-yard plateau for his career (Hill, 4,287 from 2014-16).

Valladay is not Wyoming's only backfield threat, as Titus Swen has run for 737 yards and a team-leading seven TDs. The junior has rushed for more than 160 yards in two of his last four games and has found the end zone in each of the past three contests. Swen had the longest run from scrimmage in school history on Nov. 20 against Utah State, a 98-yard touchdown scamper that helped him post a career-high 169 yards in a 44-17 victory that also featured a 145-yard effort from Valladay.

Why Kent State can cover

Marquez Cooper is looking to redeem himself as he gained only five yards on six carries against Northern Illinois after recording more than 125 in three of his previous four games. The sophomore shares the team lead with 11 rushing touchdowns and is Kent State's first 1,000-yard rusher (1,080) since Dri Archer (1,482) and Trayion Durham (1,346) both eclipsed the mark in 2012. Cooper found the end zone seven times during a five-game streak prior to the loss to the Huskies in the MAC championship game.

Quarterback Dustin Crum, the MAC Player of the Year, also ran for 11 TDs while throwing for 2,922 yards and 16 scores this season. Half of his touchdown passes were to Dante Cephas, who has made 78 catches for 1,124 yards during his sophomore campaign. Cephas is the first member of the Golden Flashes with 1,000 receiving yards since 1997, when Eugene Baker set the school record with 1,549 on 103 receptions.
