  • Packers' MarShawn Lloyd: Remains limited at practice

Lloyd (calf) was limited in practice Thursday.

The Packers opened Lloyd's practice window to return from injured reserve Monday, and he so far has logged back-to-back capped practices as he attempts to put a calf injury behind him. The 2024 third-round pick has made just one appearance (Week 2 of last season) in his pro career due to a series of health concerns that kept him sidelined, but he now appears to be ramping up toward his first game action of the current campaign. Friday's injury report will unveil whether Lloyd has a chance to play Sunday versus the Bears, but even if he receives a designation, Green Bay will need to activate him from IR by Saturday afternoon.

  • Packers' MarShawn Lloyd: Limited in return to practice

Lloyd (calf) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.

This marks Lloyd's first official practice of the 2025 regular season, as he's been on injured reserve since cut-down day in late August with what before Wednesday was deemed a hamstring issue. A calf injury was listed as the reason for his restrictions to begin Week 14 prep, and he'll now have two more sessions to prove his health before the Packers potentially give him a chance to make his season debut Sunday against the Bears.

  • Packers' MarShawn Lloyd: Has practice window opened

The Packers opened Lloyd's (hamstring) 21-day window in which to return from injured reserve Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Lloyd came out of preseason Week 2 in mid-August with hamstring tightness, and when the Packers placed him on IR on cut-down day, they designated him for return at that point, meaning his season debut wouldn't take place until at least Week 6 of the regular season. More than three months later, he's made notable enough progress in his recovery effort, which included a visit to the West Coast about one month ago, to get back on the practice field in an official capacity. The Packers will post their first Week 14 injury report Wednesday, at which point his activity level will become known. Lloyd's first potential chance to rejoin the team's backfield mix is this coming Sunday against the Bears, but he may require a ramp-up period for Green Bay to officially clear him for game action.

  • Packers' MarShawn Lloyd: Return possible this season

Packers running backs coach Ben Sirmans said Thursday that he believes Lloyd (hamstring) will play this season, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.

Since the Packers drafted him in the third round of the 2024 Draft, Lloyd has made just one appearance as a pro due to a cascade of health concerns, including a hamstring injury that so far his delayed his 2025 debut. Coach Matt LaFleur has touched on Lloyd's recovery a few times during the campaign, including noting that the second-year RB traveled to the West Coast to continue his rehab in early November. Lloyd then was spotted working on the side last Thursday, indicating that he may be closing on in being designated for return from injured reserve. Until that happens, he won't be a candidate to join Josh Jacobs (knee), Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks in Green Bay's backfield.

  • Packers' MarShawn Lloyd: Ramping up rehab

Lloyd (hamstring) is making good progress in his rehab, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.

While he's still on injured reserve, Lloyd was seen off to the side at practice working up a sweat, signaling that his window of return may be close. The 24-year-old isn't able to participate in official practices until the Packers open his practice window, but with Josh Jacobs suffering a knee injury this week, even more attention will be on Lloyd's recovery.

  • Packers' MarShawn Lloyd: Improving, but return date TBD

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that Lloyd (hamstring) recently headed to the West Coast to continue his rehab program, but the running back is without a clear timeline to return from injured reserve, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.

LaFleur noted that Lloyd headed out West to "get his body right" and added that the "results were promising," but he didn't expand much further on the second-year running back's outlook. At this stage, Lloyd doesn't look to be especially close to practicing, making it likely that his absence extends into late November, if not December. A third-round draft pick in 2024, Lloyd has appeared in just one game thus far during his time with the Packers, as he missed the majority of his rookie season while recovering from hamstring and ankle injuries as well as an emergency appendectomy.

  • Packers' MarShawn Lloyd: Still far from return to practice

Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Wednesday that Lloyd (hamstring), who remains on IR, is not nearing a return to practice, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

Lloyd has spent the entire regular season on IR due to a hamstring injury. LaFleur offered optimism about the second-year pro's progression toward the practice field in mid-October, but it seems things have since changed. It's possible that Lloyd, who has dealt with consistent injury issues since being selected by Green Bay in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, has suffered a setback in his recovery. In any case, Emanuel Wilson has entrenched himself as the No. 2 option behind Josh Jacobs in the Packers' backfield, so if Lloyd does return to action this season, he'll likely compete with Chris Brooks for the No. 3 role.

  • Packers' MarShawn Lloyd: Getting closer to return

Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Wednesday that Lloyd (hamstring), who remains on IR, is getting closer to a return to practice, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.comg reports.

Lloyd began the regular season on IR and has already missed more than the requisite minimum four contests, so he's eligible to be designated for a return to practice at any point, once Green Bay deems in healthy enough. Once that transaction is submitted, Lloyd will have a 21-day window wherein he can be evaluated at practice without counting against the active roster. The second-year pro will be positioned for a reserve role behind lead back Josh Jacobs once back in action, but Lloyd's early-season absence has allowed both Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks to further establish themselves as reserve backfield options.
