Yan was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.
Yan was designated for assignment by the Angels on Monday and will remain in the organization after clearing waivers. He made 20 appearances (16 starts) at High-A Tri-City last year and recorded a 5.25 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 82.1 innings.
