Hatcher was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Friday.

He was removed from the roster to make room for Fernando Rodney. Hatcher has a mediocre 4.24 ERA in 34 innings this season, with uninspiring strikeout and walk rates (18.0 percent and 10.9 percent, respectively).
