Greiner agreed Tuesday with the Diamondbacks on a minor-league contract.
Greiner will get the chance to battle for a spot on the Diamondbacks' Opening Day roster, though if Arizona chooses to keep only two catchers and Carson Kelly and Daulton Varsho are both healthy heading into the season, he won't have good odds of breaking camp with the club. The 29-year-old appeared in 31 games at the big-league level with Detroit in 2021, slashing .236/.321/.333 with a home run and seven RBI over 82 plate appearances.
