Dean cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Dean was designated for assignment by San Francisco last week but will stick around the organization after going unclaimed on waivers. The 28-year-old will remain in big-league camp as a non-roster invitee but doesn't have a realistic chance to make the Opening Day roster.
