The Red Sox released Wilson on Tuesday, Katie Morrison-O'Day of The Springfield Republican reports.

Wilson was getting scant playing time at Triple-A Worcester and was batting just .153 with a 47.1 percent strikeout rate over 68 plate appearances for the affiliate this season, so Boston opted to cut ties with the 26-year-old outfielder. He'll look to catch on elsewhere on a minor-league deal.
