The Mets signed Paris to a one-year contract Monday and designated him for assignment.
Paris was claimed off waivers by the Mets last week and will now be available on waivers again. The 24-year-old slashed .307/.427/.554 last season while at Triple-A Salt Lake in the Angels organization, and he's managed just a .510 OPS in 88 contests at the major-league level.
