Marte (knee) is scheduled to play nine innings for Triple-A Syracuse on Friday and could be activated Sunday, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.
Manager Carlos Mendoza indicated that Marte would need to play at least seven innings in the field on back-to-back days before the Mets would feel comfortable bringing him back. After playing a full nine innings Thursday with Syracuse, he is slated to complete Mendoza's requirement Friday. Still, it's unclear how big of a role Marte will play once he's back with the big-league club, as deadline acquisition Jesse Winker, Jeff McNeil and Tyrone Taylor have all been making a contribution in right field.
