  • Brett Harris 1B | SF

Giants' Brett Harris: Claimed by Giants

The Giants claimed Harris off waivers from the Red Sox on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento.

Harris has managed just a .192/.307/.286 batting line across 74 games covering parts of three big-league seasons. The 28-year-old has been a steady performer in the minors, though, slashing .284/.382/.451, and he can handle first base, third base and second base defensively.

  • Marlins' Deyvison De Los Santos: Back in majors

The Marlins recalled De Los Santos from Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.

De Los Santos has had a few cups of coffee in the majors this season, going 3-for-9 with a double while appearing in four games with the Marlins. He could be in for a longer stay with the big club this time around after slashing .286/.359/.700 with nine homers, 18 RBI and 14 runs in 21 games at Triple-A since the beginning of August, though he is still likely to be limited to a bench role. Leo Jimenez was DFA'd in a corresponding move.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Pirates' Ryan O'Hearn: Targets return versus Cubs next week

O'Hearn (quadriceps) is aiming to be activated from the 10-day injured list for the Pirates' Sept. 11-13 series against the Cubs, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

O'Hearn has been ramping up baseball activities as he works his way back from a left quad strain, noting Thursday that there's "still a ways to go but I'm trending in the right direction." The 33-year-old has missed the last five weeks of action, so he will likely require a few rehab games before rejoining the Pirates' active roster.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Padres' Ty France: Launches homer No. 20

France went 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Reds.

The first baseman gave the Padres an early lead when he got hold of a first-inning changeup from Brandon Williamson and dropped it over the left-field fence. The homer was France's 20th of the year, tying his career high in a remarkable comeback campaign after he struggled to stick in the majors the prior two seasons and bounced through four different organizations. Over his last 25 games, France has delivered a .302/.411/.488 slash line with four doubles, four home runs, 10 runs and 13 RBI.

  • Spencer Steer 1B | CIN

Reds' Spencer Steer: Scheduled for examination

Steer (wrist) is scheduled to be examined Sept. 11 to determine if he can begin swinging a bat, MLB.com reports.

To this point, Steer has been limited to strengthening exercises. It seems the hope would be that Steer could rejoin the club in the final days of the regular season, but there's also been talk of him being shut down. Given where the Reds sit in the standings, there's an argument to be made for the latter scenario.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Early impact in loss

Freeman went 2-for-2 with a three-run home run and three walks in Wednesday's 8-6 extra-inning loss to the Cardinals.

Freeman was perfect at the plate Wednesday after going 0-for-2 with a walk a day earlier. The first baseman had a big moment in the first inning with a homer off Brycen Mautz to give the Dodgers an early lead. That blast snapped a nearly two-month power drought for Freeman -- he had gone 47 contests without a long ball, though he still hit .315 with a .730 OPS in that span. He's batting .306 with an .850 OPS, 16 homers, 66 RBI, 70 runs scored, 32 doubles, one triple and six stolen bases through 135 contests on the year. Freeman hasn't missed the 20-homer mark in a full-length campaign since 2015, when he was limited to 18 long balls in 118 contests, but he'll need a bit of a September surge to get to that threshold this year.

  • Giants' Rafael Devers: Power surge continues Wednesday

Devers went 2-for-3 with two walks, a solo home run and an additional run scored during the Giants' 5-4 extra-inning win over the Pirates on Wednesday.

Devers wasted no time getting the Giants on the board, taking the second pitch he saw from Bubba Chandler deep to center field for a 415-foot homer in the first inning, his 32nd of the season. Devers has homered in three consecutive outings and is in the midst of a 10-game hitting streak, with six multi-hit games in that span. He's well within striking distance of matching the 35 home runs he recorded last year between the Red Sox and Giants.

  • Giants' Rafael Devers: Homers again Tuesday

Devers went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and two walks in Tuesday's 13-12 loss to the Pirates.

Devers launched a three-run home run to center field in the second inning, marking his second homer in as many games. The veteran infielder has recorded at least one hit in nine consecutive outings, batting .400 with 12 RBI, 11 runs scored and five long balls in 42 plate appearances during that time. On the year, he's up to a .252/.332/.494 slash line with 82 RBI, 80 runs scored and 31 home runs across 593 plate appearances.

  • Kyle Stowers 1B | MIA

Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Goes deep in win

Stowers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Royals.

Stowers took Randy Dobnak deep for a solo homer in the fifth inning, giving him 17 long balls on the season and his first since returning from the injured list due to a hamstring strain. He's gone 7-for-25 (.280) with five RBI across eight games since his return, though his 41.4 percent strikeout rate during that stretch remains a concern.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Perfect at plate Tuesday

Harper went 4-for-4 with a walk, one RBI and one run scored in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

While all four hits were singles, Harper was able to get on base in every plate appearance in this contest. The 33-year-old has multiple hits in seven of his last nine games, going 17-for-34 (.500) with five RBI in that span. On the year, Harper is batting .274 with a .901 OPS, 27 home runs, 80 RBI, 85 runs scored, 28 doubles, three triples and seven stolen bases over 139 contests.
