  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

Brewers' Andrew Vaughn: Placed on injured list

The Brewers placed Vaughn on the 10-day injured list Friday due to an illness, retroactive to Tuesday.

Vaughn's move to the IL will make him unavailable for the rest of the regular season, but he will be eligible to return from the injured list before the Brewers begin their postseason run in the NLDS on Oct. 3. The 28-year-old enjoyed the most efficient campaign of his career this year despite hitting a career-low six homers, slashing .306/.390/.444 with 43 RBI and 33 runs over 331 plate appearances. Brandon Lockridge was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

  • Kyle Stowers 1B | MIA

Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Out of Miami lineup

Stowers is not in the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta.

Atlanta is going with a lefty opener in Ray Kerr, so the left-handed-hitting Stowers will retreat to the bench for the second day in a row. He came off the bench as a pinch hitter in Thursday's tilt versus the Cubs and is a candidate to enter mid-game again. Deyvison De Los Santos will cover first base, and Agustin Ramirez will slot in at designated hitter for Miami.

  • Michael Busch 1B | CHC

Cubs' Michael Busch: Reaches three times in Friday matinee

Busch went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Red Sox.

Busch helped lead Chicago's offense in the first game of Friday's twin bill but didn't get enough support in an eventual 4-3 loss. The Chicago first baseman has three multi-hit performances over his last six games, which has pushed his season batting average up to .241 to go along with a .748 OPS. Busch remains limited against left-handed pitchers, and the Cubs will likely try to shield him from those matchups to some degree in the postseason, but he figures to be a lineup regular as they begin their march through the playoffs.

  • Alec Burleson 1B | STL

Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Taking seat Friday against lefty

Burleson is out of the lineup for Friday's game in Milwaukee.

The lefty-swinging Burleson will get a breather as the Brewers send southpaw Robert Gasser to the bump. Leo Bernal is grabbing a start at first base for the Cardinals, and Pedro Pages will do the catching.

  • Mark Vientos 1B | NYM

Mets' Mark Vientos: Sitting out against righty

Vientos is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Rangers.

The Mets have faced two right-handers since Jared Young (concussion) got hurt. Vientos has been on the bench for both contests, so he remains stuck in a short-side platoon even as the Mets navigate injuries. Juan Soto will be the designated hitter and Nick Morabito will patrol left field for the Mets.

  • Kyle Stowers 1B | MIA

Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Sitting out versus left-hander

Stowers is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Cubs.

Stowers homered in each of the first two games of the series, but he'll retreat to the bench for Thursday's finale. Deyvison De Los Santos will cover first base, and Agustin Ramirez will slot in at designated hitter as the Marlins go for the sweep.

  • Tim Tawa 1B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Tim Tawa: Belts homer in win

Tawa started in center field and went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Rockies.

After erupting for four runs in the first inning, Arizona's bats went silent until Tawa led off the top of the eighth inning with a solo home run. It was the 11th of the season for the versatile Tawa, who has started six consecutive games, slotting in at center field four times with one start each in left field and at first base.

  • Gavin Sheets 1B | SD

Padres' Gavin Sheets: Takes live at-bats

Sheets (foot) took part in live batting practice Monday, MLB.com reports.

Sheets has been sidelined for over three weeks but is trying to make a return before the end of the season. If the veteran slugger does manage to get back on the field, he's expected to be limited to DH and pinch-hitting duties. Prior to getting hurt, Sheets posted a .211/.313/.388 slash line with 16 homers, 46 runs, 46 RBI and four stolen bases over 123 games.

  • Kyle Stowers 1B | MIA

Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Cranks two-run homer

Stowers went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Cubs.

Stowers pushed his hitting streak up to four games with the homer. The slugging first baseman has now left the yard in back-to-back games as he tries to end a somewhat disappointing campaign for Miami on a high note. After submitting a .912 OPS for the Marlins in 2025, Stowers is slashing .240/.331/.460 with 21 long balls, 65 RBI and 57 runs scored over 511 plate appearances in 2026.

  • Spencer Steer 1B | CIN

Reds' Spencer Steer: Set for wrist surgery next week

Steer will undergo right wrist surgery next Wednesday, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Steer has missed most of the second half with a partial tear of the tendon sheath in his right wrist. He tried rehabbing the injury and was ramping up baseball activities recently, but ultimately the 28-year-old was unable to avoid surgery. Steer is expected to be 100 percent recovered in time for the start of spring training.
