Drew Romo C | CHW
White Sox's Drew Romo: Set for reduction in playing time
Romo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians.
Though the White Sox kept him on the big-league roster and optioned Edgar Quero to Triple-A Charlotte to make room for Kyle Teel's (hamstring/knee) return from the 60-day injured list, Romo will be headed for a reduction in playing time while Teel settles back in as Chicago's clear No. 1 catcher. Romo produced an .857 OPS in his first month with the White Sox after receiving a promotion from Triple-A on April 25, but he's fallen off badly since the start of June, slashing .071/.100/.107 with a 29 percent strikeout rate in 31 plate appearances.

Marlins' Liam Hicks: Awaiting MRI results on back
Hicks is awaiting MRI results on his injured lower back, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Hicks was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a lower-back strain, and the Marlins will have a better idea as to proceed with his rehab after the MRI results are in. Christian Vazquez C | HOU
Astros' Christian Vazquez: Back in No. 2 role
Vazquez is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Toronto.
After serving as the Astros' primary option behind the plate for about six weeks, Vazquez has moved down to the No. 2 spot on the depth chart following Yainer Diaz's return from the injured list last Tuesday. In the Astros' ensuing six games, Diaz has made four starts to Vazquez's two.

Austin Wells C | NYY
Yankees' Austin Wells: On bench for series opener
Wells is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers.
Wells made his return from the injured list Sunday in the Yankees' 4-1 loss to the Reds, starting behind the dish while going 0-for-2 with a strikeout. Though Wells stands to see the majority of the starts at catcher now that he's recovered from a bout with cervical headaches, the Yankees could still look to spare him from matchups versus left-handed pitching. Ali Sanchez will step in for Wells behind the plate Monday while the Tigers send southpaw Framber Valdez to the bump.

Kyle Higashioka C | TEX
Rangers' Kyle Higashioka: Not in Monday's lineup

Sandy Leon: Reaches free agency
Leon elected to become a free agent Monday, Lindsay Crosby of BravesToday.com reports.
Leon has decided to test out free agency rather than accept Atlanta's outright assignment. The veteran catcher could wind up back in the organization on a minor-league contract, though he now has the ability to negotiate with all clubs.

Royals' Carter Jensen: Stays hot in Sunday's loss
Jensen went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, two additional runs scored and two walks in Sunday's 12-10 loss to the Cardinals.
Jensen's hot stretch continued Sunday, as he came around to score a season-high three times and went the opposite way for his 10th homer of the campaign in the sixth inning. The 22-year-old is in the midst of a 12-game hitting streak, during which he's slashing .375/.407/.708 with three homers, seven doubles, 11 RBI, 12 runs and a stolen base. His recent production has helped him settle into the leadoff spot against right-handed pitching.
