  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Swipes another bag Monday

Springer went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Monday's win over the Red Sox.

The veteran slugger singled in the sixth inning and swiped second before coming home with the winning run in a 2-1 victory. Springer's had a tough season on the health front, seeing action in 89 of the Blue Jays' 120 games, but he appears to be back in top form -- since the All-Star break he's delivered a .287/.360/.463 slash line with three of his 12 homers and three of his nine steals on the year, to go along with 11 runs and 14 RBI in 23 contests.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Snaps steal-less stretch

Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs, an RBI and a stolen base in a 6-5 win against Kansas City on Monday.

Ohtani drove in the Dodgers' first run with a double in the third inning and scored the game-winning run on a Freddie Freeman single in the seventh. Still, the most notable stat of the game for the two-way star was his stolen base, which ended a 67-game span without a theft. Ohtani attempted just three steals during the drought, so he hasn't been very active on the basepaths despite reaching base at a .405 clip during the steal-less stretch. It was only two seasons ago that Ohtani logged a career-best 59 steals, but it's not all that surprising that he's become less of a speed threat given that he's battled a knee injury for the past couple months and has also had to focus much of his attention on pitching when healthy enough to do so.

  • Brewers' Christian Yelich: Snaps homer drought Monday

Yelich went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Padres on Monday.

Yelich provided all of Milwaukee's scoring with his two-run blast in the second inning. It was his first long ball over his past 14 contests and just his second across 28 games since Independence Day. Yelich has been quiet on the power front this season -- after mashing 29 homers in the regular season last year, his most since 2019, he's gone deep just eight times through 82 contests in 2026. That's led to a .694 OPS, which is on pace to be the lowest mark of his career.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Leadoff homer in three-hit game

Diaz went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, a second RBI and two total runs scored in Monday's 10-6 win over the Athletics.

Diaz has collected seven hits over his last two games. He started this contest with a homer on Jacob Lopez's second pitch of the game. Diaz has hit .235 since the All-Star break, adding three homers and 12 RBI over 23 games in that span. For the season, the 35-year-old is batting .302 with an .835 OPS, 16 homers, 67 RBI, 64 runs scored, 21 doubles, one triple and three stolen bases over 113 contests.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

Eloy Jimenez: Parts ways with Jays

The Blue Jays released Jimenez on Tuesday.

Jimenez posted a .633 OPS over 12 games while he was up in the majors with Toronto in April, but he was moved off the 40-man roster shortly after his time in the big leagues ended and had been toiling at Triple-A Buffalo ever since. The Blue Jays opted to move on from Jimenez after he slashed .286/.353/.361 with just one home run over 33 games at Buffalo.

  • Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Moves past illness, rejoins lineup

Yoshida (illness) will start at designated hitter and bat fifth in Monday's game against the Blue Jays.

After sitting out the previous two games while recovering from a bug that had been making its way around the Red Sox clubhouse, Yoshida has made enough progress in his recovery from the ailment to rejoin the lineup. The Red Sox will hope that the abbreviated absence won't disrupt Yoshida's rhythm at the plate; over his last seven games, he's gone 10-for-27 with a home run, three doubles, two walks, seven RBI and five runs.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Checking back in lineup Monday

Springer (shoulder) will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in Monday's game against the Red Sox.

Springer will make his return to the starting nine after a tight left shoulder kept him on the bench for the Blue Jays' final two games of their weekend series in Philadelphia. The 36-year-old was able to make an appearance as a pinch runner in Saturday's 7-5 win in 11 innings, and the shoulder issue apparently is no longer inhibiting him at the plate either.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Set to play catch again Monday

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Ohtani (knee/biceps) is scheduled to play catch Monday for the second time in three days, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Ohtani served as the Dodgers' designated hitter in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Diamondbacks, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.

Before playing catch out to 90 feet Saturday, Ohtani had been shut down from throwing for approximately two weeks due to lingering soreness and inflammation in his left knee as well as a right biceps issue, which cropped up during his last bullpen session July 22. The two-way superstar reported no issues coming out of Saturday's catch session and is set to repeat the activity Monday, but Roberts wouldn't provide a timeline for when Ohtani might get back on a mound, terming it as a "day-by-day" decision. The Dodgers are planning on Ohtani being part of their rotation in the postseason, and while he's still expected to resume pitching in games before the end of the regular season, he may not be ready to handle a traditional starting role and could instead be deployed as more of an opener while he gradually builds up his pitch count.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Collects four hits

Diaz went 4-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Mariners.

Diaz and Chandler Simpson led the way with four hits apiece as the Rays used small ball effectively in this win. While Diaz has hit safely in just three of his seven games in August, those three performances have included multiple hits. He's 8-for-32 (.250 batting average) with two RBI this month, and he's batting .298 with an .821 OPS, 15 home runs, 65 RBI, 62 runs scored, 20 doubles, one triple and three stolen bases through 112 contests overall.

  • Kyle Schwarber DH | PHI

Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Homers twice to end drought

Schwarber went 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs, four total RBI and three walks in Sunday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Blue Jays.

Schwarber opened the scoring in the third inning with a three-run, opposite-field blast off Shane Bieber before extending the lead to 4-2 with a 448-foot solo shot in the fifth. The two-homer game snapped an extended power drought for Schwarber, who had gone 17 games without a long ball -- he went just 10-for-57 (.175) with three RBI in that span. Schwarber is now slashing .247/.369/.535 through 503 plate appearances this season with 68 RBI, 68 runs scored and 35 home runs, tied with Yordan Alvarez for the most in the majors.
