  • Cole Carrigg CF | COL

Rockies' Cole Carrigg: Triples twice in rout

Carrigg went 2-for-4 with two triples, a walk, three RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 15-3 win over the Giants.

Carrigg drove in a run on a bases-loaded walk in the first inning before driving in two more on his second triple of the game in the fifth. While he's started only seven of Colorado's past 10 contests, the 24-year-old has opened his major-league career with a .282/.372/.535 slash line to go along with nine extra-base hits, 16 RBI, 16 runs scored and two steals across just 87 plate appearances.

  • Jake McCarthy LF | COL

Rockies' Jake McCarthy: Historic performance in rout

McCarthy went 4-for-5 with two home runs, six RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 15-3 win over the Giants.

McCarthy became just the seventh player ever to tally a leadoff homer and a grand slam in the same game, per Thomas Harding of MLB.com. It continued a scorching run for the 28-year-old, who's logged multiple hits in six of his past nine games with eight extra-base hits, 16 RBI, nine runs scored and two steals during that stretch. For the year, he's slashing a strong .308/.346/.522 with nine home runs, 47 RBI, 36 runs scored and 14 steals across 269 plate appearances.

  • Juan Soto LF | NYM

Mets' Juan Soto: Homers in loss

Soto went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Friday's 5-3 loss to Atlanta.

Soto tied things up early with a two-run blast off Grant Holmes in the third inning. It was a needed effort from the 27-year-old, who entered Friday having gone hitless in four of 10 games with just two extra-base hits since a two-homer game June 18. On the season, he's slashing .297/.406/.565 with 18 home runs, 41 RBI, 39 runs scored and six stolen bases across 294 plate appearances.

  • Braves' Michael Harris: Goes deep in win

Harris went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-3 win over the Mets.

Harris opened the scoring with a two-run shot off Christian Scott in the second inning. The 25-year-old ended June in a 1-for-18 skid but has opened July with hits in three straight games. On the year, he's slashing .296/.330/.495 with 15 homers, 46 RBI, 38 runs scored and five steals across 309 plate appearances.

  • Nathan Church CF | STL

Cardinals' Nathan Church: Goes yard again Friday

Church went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run and a second run scored in Friday's 17-1 rout of the Cubs.

The 25-year-old outfielder got the offensive eruption started when he took David Peterson deep in the second inning, Church's eighth homer of the season and just his second off a left-hander. Three of his long balls have come in the last four games, and over 22 contests since returning from a shoulder injury in early June he's batting .281 (18-for-64) with seven total extra-base hits (three doubles, a triple and three home runs), 10 RBI and 12 runs.

  • Samad Taylor LF | SD

Padres' Samad Taylor: Resting up Friday

Taylor isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers.

Taylor has notched a base hit in each of his last four games, but the Friars will keep him on the bench to begin Friday's contest. Gavin Sheets will start in left field while Taylor sits, putting Manny Machado in the DH spot and Sung-Mun Song at third base.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

    Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Idle Friday

Edman isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against San Diego, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Edman will move to the bench to begin Friday's contest after going 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's win. While he sits, Alex Freeland will start at the keystone and bat ninth.

  • Brenton Doyle CF | CHW

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Overcomes groin issue on rehab

Doyle (oblique/groin) is expected to resume his rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Doyle landed on the 10-day injured list back in late May because of a left oblique contusion, but it's groin tightness that's held him out of action since Sunday. As long as he doesn't encounter another setback, Doyle still has a good chance to return to the Rockies' active roster before the All-Star break.

  • Carson Benge RF | NYM

Mets' Carson Benge: Moved down to five hole

Benge will start in right field and bat fifth in Friday's contest in Atlanta.

Benge had started in the leadoff spot for every Mets game since May 12, but it will be A.J. Ewing getting a turn at the top of the batting order Friday. The timing is interesting, given that Benge has a seven-game hitting streak going and is slashing .304/.350/.500 across his last 13 contests.

  • A.J. Ewing CF | NYM

Mets' A.J. Ewing: Elevated to leadoff spot

Ewing will start in center field and bat leadoff in Friday's game versus Atlanta.

Ewing has mostly batted between fifth and eighth in the Mets' lineup since being called up in mid-May, but he will get his first chance in the leadoff spot Friday. Normal leadoff man Carson Benge will bat fifth in the series opener.
