Harrison Bader CF | SF
Giants' Harrison Bader: Ruled out for season
Giants manager Tony Vitello said Thursday that Bader (foot) won't return from the 10-day injured list before the end of the season, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Placed on shelf May 30 after experiencing plantar fasciitis in his left foot, Bader worsened the injury when he was involved in a scooter accident last weekend. According to Vitello, the Giants were already anticipating Bader to miss the remainder of the season before his accident, though the outfielder's recovery timeline could be extended as a result of the setback. Bader underwent a follow-up MRI on his foot earlier in the week, but the Giants haven't provided any details regarding to what extent the scooter accident worsened his injury. The 32-year-old will be heading into the second season of a two-year, $20.5 million deal in 2027 after finishing his inaugural campaign in San Francisco with a .170/.198/.358 slash line to go with five home runs, 14 RBI and 10 runs over 30 games.

Seiya Suzuki RF | CHC
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Scores lone run Sunday
Suzuki went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Yankees.
Suzuki had half of Chicago's four hits and scored the team's lone run in the fourth inning. The outfielder has been dialed in lately, as he's batting .298 over his last 15 games with three home runs, 13 runs scored and 13 RBI. Overall, Suzuki is slashing .273/.364/.476 with 18 long balls, 60 runs and 61 RBI across 95 contests, making him a strong fantasy contributor.

Grant McCray RF | SF
Giants' Grant McCray: Sitting after six straight starts
McCray is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.
McCray will take a seat for the second day in a row after he had started in each of the Giants' preceding six games while going 3-for-17 with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Drew Gilbert will cover center field Sunday, and he and McCray could jockey for playing time at the position until one of the two players separates himself from the other.

Tyler Freeman RF | COL
Rockies' Tyler Freeman: Heading back to bench
Freeman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.
Freeman started in each of the previous three games -- twice at second base, once in right field -- and went 2-for-9 with a run scored. The 27-year-old has produced an underwhelming .251/.322/.320 slash line with three home runs and six stolen bases over 279 plate appearances on the season and appears likely to handle a part-time role while the Rockies are relatively healthy.

Aidan Smith CF | NYM
Mets' Aidan Smith: Headed to Queens
The Mets acquired Smith, infielder Emilien Pitre and right-hander Gary Gill Hill from the Rays on Sunday in exchange for right-hander Freddy Peralta, Mark Feinsand and Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com report.
A 2023 fourth-round pick by the Mariners, Smith was sent to the Rays in 2024 in the Randy Arozarena trade and is now on the move once again. Smith has spent most of this season at the Double-A level, where he's struggled to a .215/.283/.410 slash line with 10 home runs, 14 steals and a 32 percent strikeout rate in 49 games.
-
Noelvi Marte RF | CIN
Reds' Noelvi Marte: Regains foothold in lineup
Marte will start in right field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Pirates.
Marte will pick up a sixth consecutive start after going 4-for-19 with a double, an RBI, a run and an 0:7 BB:K over the Reds' previous five contests. He looks like he'll occupy a regular spot in the lineup while Spencer Steer (wrist) is on the injured list.
-
Heriberto Hernandez LF | MIA
Marlins' Heriberto Hernandez: Hitting bench Sunday
Hernandez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Unless the Marlins lose a corner outfielder to an injury or trade, Hernandez could have to settle for a part-time role against right-handed pitching. Hernandez had started every game dating back to July 8 while producing a .732 OPS during that span, but he looks to be the odd man out of the everyday lineup following Owen Caissie's return from the injured list Saturday.

Jakob Marsee CF | MIA
Marlins' Jakob Marsee: Pulled from Sunday's lineup
The Marlins scratched Marsee from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets due to back spasms, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Miami will treat the center fielder as day-to-day heading into its three-game series in Atlanta that begins Tuesday. Esteury Ruiz will draw the start Sunday in place of Marsee.
