Guardians' Jo Adell: Pulled late with knee pain Tuesday
Adell was removed from Tuesday's 8-1 win over the Giants in the top of the eighth inning due to left knee pain, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Manager Stephen Vogt said Adell had "pretty good pain" in his left knee and will undergo further testing. Adell initially injured the knee when he fouled a pitch off it in the first inning. It didn't affect Adell the rest of the night at the plate, as he went on to go 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI and one run scored before being replaced by Petey Halpin in the outfield.

Guardians' Jo Adell: Career day in Tuesday's win
Adell went 3-for-4 with a home run and six RBI during the Guardians' 8-1 win over the Giants on Tuesday.
Adell entered the night having gone 7-for-50 (.167) with two home runs and five RBI through his first 12 games for the Guardians. Tuesday's story was different, with Adell setting the tone early with a 455-foot, three-run homer in the first inning. He proceeded to drive in three more runs on singles in the second and fourth to set a career high with six RBI. The 27-year-old outfielder is one long ball shy of hitting the 20-homer mark for a third consecutive year, and he has a .695 OPS with three steals, 73 RBI and 40 extra-base hits across 510 plate appearances this season.

Brett Callahan LF | DET
Tigers' Brett Callahan: Slugs first major-league homer
Callahan went 2-for-3 with a solo home run during the Tigers' 4-1 loss to the Pirates on Tuesday.
The Tigers didn't have much of an answer for Braxton Ashcraft, but Callahan was responsible for two of Detroit's five hits off the right-hander, one which was a solo homer in the fifth inning. The home run was the first of Callahan's career, and the 24-year-old outfielder has gone 4-for-9 with five RBI and two extra-base hits while starting in three straight games since being promoted from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

Oneil Cruz CF | PIT
Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Belts two-run homer in return
Cruz went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run during the Pirates' 4-1 win over the Tigers on Tuesday.
Cruz was activated from the 60-day injured list Monday, but he had to wait until Tuesday to make his return to the lineup. He made an immediate impact in his return with a two-run long ball in the fifth to put the Pirates up for good. It's a great sign for Cruz, who had been working his way back from a fractured left hand that he suffered in early June. His return is a significant boost for a Pirates team attempting to make a late surge to reach the postseason.

Tyler Soderstrom LF | ATH
Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Done for 2026
Soderstrom will undergo season-ending hip surgery Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Soderstrom landed on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a left hip impingement, after after further consultations and tests, season-ending surgery has been determined to be the best course of action for the 24-year-old. He'll finish the 2026 season with a .245/.338/.472 slash line with two steals, 19 home runs, 56 RBI and 58 runs scored across 453 plate appearances. The Athletics will turn to the likes of Carlos Cortes, Jonah Heim, Zack Gelof and others to serve as the team's designated hitter for the rest of the season in Soderstrom's absence.

Byron Buxton CF | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Not in Tuesday's lineup
Buxton is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Atlanta.
It appears to be a standard rest day for Buxton after returning from the injured list last week and starting the past four games. The 32-year-old has gone 2-for-15 with a double, three walks and a run scored since coming back from a hip impingement.

Kerry Carpenter RF | DET
Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Rehab process on hold
Carpenter (foot) will pause his rehab program after suffering a setback, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Carpenter will have his foot partially immobilized for the next few days, by which time his rehab will resume based on his symptoms. The 28-year-old is recovering from plantar fasciitis in his right foot that caused him to go on the 10-day IL in late July. The Tigers should have a better idea of Carpenter's new return timeline once he's cleared to resume baseball activities.

Roman Anthony LF | BOS
Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Set to reclaim leadoff role upon return
Manager Chad Tracy said Monday that Anthony (finger) is expected to serve as the Red Sox's everyday leadoff hitter while splitting time between left field and designated hitter upon returning from the 60-day injured list, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
The Red Sox are soon expected to get two of their lineup regulars back from long-term injuries, as Anthony and shortstop Trevor Story (sports hernia) are both in the midst of rehab assignments. Story could be activated from the IL as soon as Friday, while Anthony -- who will begin his assignment Tuesday at Double-A Portland -- may need a little more time on the farm to stockpile at-bats before making his return to Boston. Before landing on the IL on May 7 due to a sprained ligament on the base of his right ring finger, Anthony had gotten off to a slow start to the season with a .675 OPS, but even that level of production would still represent a slight upgrade from what the Red Sox have received from their replacement options atop the batting order. Abraham notes that since Anthony went on the IL, Red Sox leadoff hitters have generated a .215/.292/.367 slash line.

Lourdes Gurriel LF | ARI
Diamondbacks' Lourdes Gurriel: Ready for rehab assignment
Gurriel (adductor) has been sent to Triple-A Reno to begin a rehab assignment.
Gurriel landed on the 10-day injured list shortly after the All-Star break, but he's ready to test things out in games after going through workouts at the Diamondbacks' spring training facility in Arizona. He should be ready to rejoin the active roster later this month. What's unclear is what Gurriel's role will be upon return, as the Diamondbacks traded for Lars Nootbaar and got Jordan Lawlar back from injury after Gurriel was hurt.
