Ceddanne Rafaela CF | BOS
Red Sox's Ceddanne Rafaela: Back in action Thursday
Rafaela (hamstring) will start in center field and bat sixth Thursday against the Guardians, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Rafaela made an early exit from Wednesday's contest due to right hamstring tightness. He underwent imaging Thursday that came back negative for a significant injury, and he's seemingly feeling well enough to return to the lineup without missing a start. The 26-year-old went 1-for-1 before leaving Wednesday's game and is batting .277 since the beginning of August.

Roman Anthony LF | BOS
Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Exiting starting lineup
Anthony is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Guardians.
It's Anthony's first day off since he returned from the 60-day injured list in late August. The 22-year-old is slashing .242/.294/.432 with four home runs across 22 contests since being activated. Jarren Duran will be in left field for the Red Sox on Thursday, and Mickey Gasper will serve as Boston's designated hitter.

Lawrence Butler RF | ATH
Athletics' Lawrence Butler: Pair of hits in Wednesday's win
Butler went 2-for-5 with an RBI and was caught stealing in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Angels.
Butler started the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning, ultimately closing with a pair of knocks in the win. The outfielder has really turned things around in the second half of the season, slashing .278/.358/.505 with 12 homers, 39 RBI, 32 runs and four stolen bases in 62 games after the All-Star break. Overall, Butler is hitting .235/.325/.395 with 17 homers, 61 RBI, 63 runs and 10 stolen bases across 150 contests.

Jac Caglianone RF | KC
Royals' Jac Caglianone: Exiting starting nine
Caglianone is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the White Sox.

Bryan Reynolds LF | PIT
Pirates' Bryan Reynolds: Rare day off Thursday
Reynolds is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Cardinals.
It's the first day off since June 19 for Reynolds, who is just 5-for-40 (.167) at the plate over his last eight games. Jake Mangum will grab a start in left field while Reynolds rests.

Jarren Duran LF | BOS
Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Reaches 20 steals in win
Duran went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Guardians.
Duran singled to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning and scored the game's lone run. He later singled and stole second base in the eighth, giving the Red Sox a chance to bring in an insurance run. The steal was the 20th of the season for Duran, who has stolen as least 20 bags in four straight seasons. He also joined the 20-homer/20-steal club for the second time in his career. While his .207 batting average has been a drag, Duran's provided legit fantasy value.

Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: Triples, knocks in two in win
Carroll went 1-for-4 with a triple and two RBI in Wednesday's 5-3 win over Colorado.
Carroll finished off the scoring in a four-run first inning with a two-out, two-run triple. It turned out to be the game-winning knock. The triple was his league-leading 17th of the season and tied a career-best mark set in 2025. He's provided some key hits as the Diamondbacks chase a postseason berth; Carroll has two doubles, one triple, three home runs and 14 RBI over his last 11 contests.

Jonny DeLuca RF | TB
Rays' Jonny DeLuca: Three hits, two steals in loss
DeLuca went 3-for-4 with an RBI double and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 9-2 loss to the Yankees.
DeLuca was one of Tampa Bay's few bright spots in the loss, as he matched a season high with three hits. He'd also swipe a pair of bases, after logging just one steal in his previous 33 games. Overall, the outfielder is slashing .263/.292/.415 across 352 plate appearances this year with nine homers, 47 RBI, 41 runs scored and 17 stolen bases.

Red Sox's Ceddanne Rafaela: Needs imaging on hamstring
Rafaela will undergo an MRI on his right hamstring Thursday, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Last year's Gold Glove winner in center field and a first-time All-Star this season, Rafaela left Wednesday's game -- his first game back from a right quad strain -- with right hamstring tightness, and manager Chad Tracy revealed afterward that imaging will be necessary. Jarren Duran figures to take back over in center field until Rafaela receives the green light to return once again.
