Fantasy Football Week 16 Wide Receiver Preview: Waiver wire, projections, DFS plays and more
Everything you need to know about wide receiver in Week 16

Last year's Super Bowl participants are suddenly looking very questionable when it comes to pass catchers. Tampa Bay lost Chris Godwin to a torn ACL, Mike Evans is week-to-week with a hamstring injury, and Leonard Fournette is also expected to miss some time with a hamstring. The Chiefs have Tyreek Hill, Josh Gordon, and Travis Kelce on the COVID-IR.
Seeing as we don't expect Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes to stop passing, there should be some emerging value on both teams. Finding that in Tampa appears easier at first glance than Kansas City. That's because Antonio Brown is back from his three-game suspension. Brown is a top-six receiver in the projections below, and a must-start option in all formats. Obviously, so is Rob Gronkowski. Currently, Tyler Johnson looks like the best bet to be the third option, and a boom-bust flex. But if Breshad Perriman is cleared from the COVID list, he would have even more upside than Johnson.
As for the Chiefs, it's less promising. If both Hill and Kelce miss, we'll be in uncharted territory. Byron Pringle projects the highest and has been the most involved lately, but Mecole Hardman fits Hill's role better and probably has more upside. If Gordon were to get off the COVID list, he could be in play as well. I would expect a boost for Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Darrel Williams, and I'd view the receivers as boom/bust flexes like Perriman and Johnson.

Who's Out
The following players are not being projected to play Week 16 at this time. Here's what it means:
You may be better off avoiding the Chiefs passing game if Hill and Kelce are out.
|
Perriman's brekaout in 2019 came with both Godwin and Evans sidelined.
|
Gabriel Davis is a must-start receiver and Isaiah McKenzie is a deep flex.
|
A.J. Brown could be back this week, thankfully.
|
Allen Lazard would be a low-end No. 3 receiver.
|
N'Keal Harry should play a bigger role.

Numbers to Know
- 35 -- Targets for Amon-Ra St. Brown over his last three games. He's an alpha No. 1 without T.J. Hockenson.
- 12 -- Mike Williams has 12 targets inside the 10 yard line. Only Cooper Kupp has more.
- 138.6 -- Mac Jones has a passer rating of 138.6 when throwing to Kendrick Bourne, who is on the COVID list.
- 10.8% -- Ja'Marr Chase has dropped 10.8% of his targets, tops amongst receivers with at least 50 targets. That could end at any time.
- 10.0 -- Antonio Brown leads the Buccaneers with 10 yards per target. He could be the No. 1 wide receiver overall this week.
- 31 -- Christian Kirk has seen 31 targets in four games without DeAndre Hopkins.

Waiver Wire Targets
Davis was a good No. 3 receiver before Cole Beasley was ruled out, now he's a solid No. 2 with upside.
| ||||||||||||||||||
St. Brown would be No. 1 if Jared Goff was cleared from the COVD-IR
| ||||||||||||||||||
Crowder has a great matchup against Jacksonville and saw a big target share in Week 15.
| ||||||||||||||||||
Meyers gets Jacksonville in Week 17.

DFS Plays
Brown projects as a top-six wide receiver this week. He's not priced like one at all.

I think people will be quick to get off Renfrow after one bad game, but I project a bounce back and a top-12 performance.
