General manager Joe Douglas said Wednesday that the Jets will exercise Williams' fifth-year option for 2023, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Williams produced similarly in 2021 compared to his sophomore campaign a year prior, so the decision to guarantee his contract through 2023 comes as little surprise. The third overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, Williams still has the potential to be a defensive anchor -- and earn himself a long-term extension -- if he can take his production up a notch during the upcoming season.
