John Theus: Waived by Carolina

Theus (illness) was waived by the Panthers on Monday, Max Henson of the Panthers' official site reports.

Theus, who the Panthers claimed off waivers from the 49ers in September, was placed on injured reserve back in December due to the illness. It's likely that he's back to full strength now, but the Panthers elected to part ways with the offensive tackle in order to free up cap space ahead of the start of the new league year. Assuming Theus goes unclaimed off waivers, he'll be able to sign with any of the NFL's 32 teams.
