Barron had one hit and finished plus-1 over 9:10 of ice time in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Rangers.

Barron was called up from AHL Colorado and made his debut Tuesday. The Avalanche placed Bowen Byram (head) on injured reserve while losing Devon Toews to COVID-19 protocols, necessitating the transaction. Barron skated on the third pair and nearly picked up an assist on Valeri Nichushkin's second-period goal. He held the puck along the boards, drawing a defender to him, then found an open Nazem Kadri, who directed a puck to the net that deflected off J.T. Compher to the blade of Nichushkin's stick. Toews is reportedly symptomatic and could be out until past Christmas. That, along with Byram and Jacob MacDonald (undisclosed) being out, means Barron is expected to stick around in the short term.
