Murray is on the Blue Jackets' protected list for the upcoming expansion draft, Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch reports.

There were rumors prior to the release of the Jackets' list that Murray would be one of the players the club was steering Las Vegas away from as part of a deal that sends Columbus' first-round pick (24th overall) to the Golden Knights, but instead the oft-injured blueliner was officially made off-limits to the new franchise. Murray scored just two goals and 11 points in 60 games last season, but the 23-year-old still has upside as a skilled two-way defenseman if he can stay out of the trainer's room.
