Wotherspoon was promoted from AHL Utica on Wednesday.
Wotherspoon has four goals and 19 points in 54 games with Utica this season. The 31-year-old defenseman hasn't appeared in an NHL contest since the 2016-17 campaign, so it's unlikely he'll crack the Devils' lineup against Dallas on Thursday.
