The Maple Leafs acquired Krys from the Blackhawks in exchange for Kurtis Gabriel on Thursday.
Krys has spent the last four seasons with AHL Rockford and hasn't seen any NHL action yet. He has one assist in eight games this season and is expected to join Toronto's AHL squad.
