In the first state championship game of the week No. 6 Thompson (Alabaster) pulled off a miracle comeback against Auburn in the Alabama 7A championship and won 29-28 on Wednesday. The defending state champs blocked a punt and returned it for a score with :18 left to cut the deficit to 28-26 then recovered an onside kick. After back-to-back defensive pass interference calls Trevor Hardy connected on a 35-yard field goal with no time left on the clock.
