Giants All-Star catcher Buster Posey is not in the starting lineup for the Giants for the second straight game as he deals with a lingering back issue. We won't say "injury" just yet because the team hasn't really said that it's more than soreness.
Posey, 27, is hitting .254/.333/.396 (110 OPS+) with seven homers and 25 RBI this season. The Giants enter Friday's action with baseball's best record at 35-19.
Posey's pretty durable, as he rarely misses games for injury purposes. The only DL stint of his major-league career came when he suffered a season-ending broken leg -- a freak accident that shouldn't be held against a player.
With Posey on the shelf, the Giants will go with Hector Sanchez behind the plate.
