Cardinals infielder Daniel Descalso is batting ninth and starting at shortstop in Game 2 of the World Series Thursday.

Game 1 shortstop Pete Kozma committed two errors in the first two innings of Wednesday's 8-1 loss, and the Red Sox capitalized by taking a 5-0 lead into the third inning of their eventual win.

Descalso, who hit .238/.290/.366 in 328 at-bats during the regular season, was 1 for 9 during the National League Division Series and 2 for 7 with two runs during the National League Championship Series. He made 48 starts at shortstop during the regular season as well.
