Cardinals third baseman David Freese hit a home run in his return to the lineup Thursday.

After missing nearly a week with a sore tailbone, the 29-year-old hit a home run off Mets pitcher Jeremy Hefner in his second at-bat. Freese went hitless in his two other at-bats, and was replaced by Ty Wigginton in the sixth inning.
