Giants pitcher Matt Cain threw 30 pitches off a bullpen mound Friday, and is scheduled for another session on Tuesday. Although the Giants aren't providing a timetable for his return, Cain has yet to face live hitters and might not be activated until July, per the San Francisco Chronicle.
"I'd love to say before the All-Star break, but I don't know," Cain said. "We'll see how that goes. I think that could be achievable. It might not. It's just something I thought of, sitting down looking at it on paper with (trainer Dave Groeschner). It might be just after the break. I can't really say."
Cain has not pitched in a big-league game since July. He is working his way back from a flexor-tendon strain near his right elbow, which led to offseason surgery to clean up bone chips in his elbow.
